When Salman Khan’s Bharat released on the 5th of June, it added another feather to his already full hat of box office hits. Call it an obsession or mania of sorts, this particular Khan makes sure every one of his movies makes an amazing mark on the audience. While Bharat may have scored massively on its first day by earning Rs. 42.30 crores, here are his other films which did just as well!
1. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Rs. 40.35 crores)
Directed by Sooraj Barjatiya, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo starred Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles. While this film released on Diwali 2015 and not on Eid, it still did really well on its first day. Earning Rs. 40.35 crores, this movie was also one of the few films which opened at such a high number on the first day! Through its lifetime, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo earned a whopping Rs. 210.16 crores!
2. Sultan (Rs. 36.54 crores)
An Ali Abbas Zafar directorial, Sultan starred Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. Not only did it earn a massive collection of Rs. 36.54 crores on its first day at the box office, it also passed the 100 crores mark three days after its release! The film did so well, Zafar and Khan decided to work their magic on as many films as possible in the future. Sultan did so well, it earned a whopping Rs. 278 crores during its lifetime!
3. Tiger Zinda Hai (Rs. 34.10 crores)
Looking at the success of Sultan, Ali Abbas Zafar and Salman Khan decided to weave their charm once again by working on Tiger Zinda Hai, their second film together. By earning Rs. 34.10 crores on its opening day, the film proved that Salman Khan’s charm is not a myth, but a fact. Incidentally, this was also Salman’s first films to pass the three hundred crores mark by earning Rs. 339.16 crores in its lifetime!
4. Ek Tha Tiger (Rs. 32.93 crores)
Despite earning slightly lesser than its sequel, Ek Tha Tiger still minted a neat little sum of Rs. 32.93 crores on its first day. Starring Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan, this Ali Abbas Zafar directorial was filled with action and was based on the life of an India RAW agent. Through its lifetime, the movie earned a grand total of Rs. 198.78 crores!
5. Race 3 (Rs. 28.50 crores)
Although this particular installment from the Race franchise was mocked and ridiculed for its over the top action sequences and dialogues, it still did quite well at the box office. By earning Rs. 28.50 crores on its first day, Race 3 showed how to make an impact, you need a star cast with Salman Khan in it, no matter what the story! By earning Rs. 303 crores during its lifetime, Race 3 was the second Salman Khan starrer to cross the three hundred crores mark at the box office!

Udham Singh Biopic Gets A Release Date
Sardar Udham Singh, Vicky Kaushal’s next film, finally has a release date. Based on the life of Udham Singh, a revolutionary who was a part of the Indian freedom struggle, this Shoojit Sircar directorial is going to hit the screens on the 2nd of October, 2020.
Talking about the film, Shoojit Sircar said in a statement, “Yes we will be releasing on 2nd October 2020. Keeping in mind the remaining shoot schedule, the post production process and the time required to complete the film, my producers and good friends Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar advised this date for a feasible release next year, hence I decided to go ahead with it!”
Making a film about this revolutionary man was Sircar’s dream. The Country remembers Udham Singh for shooting Brigadier General Reginald Dyer and Michael O’Dwyer, the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, in 1940. Udham Singh killed the two men to avenge the death of all the people killed during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre (1919) in Punjab.
Apart from this biopic, Vicky Kaushal is currently working on Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship, which is scheduled to release on the 15th of November, 2019. Shoojit Sircar, on the other hand, is working on Gulabo Sitaabo, which will star Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead roles.
Written by Ritesh Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya, Sardar Udham Singh is bankrolled by Rising Sun Films.

SRK-Aryan To Give Voice Overs For Hindi Version Of The Lion King
Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) dropped a massive announcement on the 17th June, which is sure to make your Monday better. The Bollywood superstar is all set to give a voice over for Mufasa’s character for the live action version of Disney’s The Lion King! To make your day all the better, it isn’t just Shah Rukh Khan who is going to be lending his voice, but son Aryan will also have a role to play.
While SRK will lend his voice to Mufasa, son Aryan is going to provide a voice over for Mufasa’s son, Simba. According to SRK, The Lion King (1994) is a movie the entire family loves and as a father, he can totally relate to the bond between Simba and Mufasa.
“The legacy of The Lion King is timeless; and being a part of this iconic re-imagining with my son Aryan makes it extra special for me. We are most excited that AbRam is going to watch this,” Shah Rukh said in a statement.
Previously, Disney movies like The Jungle Book, Dumbo and Aladdin were turned into live action films. The voice cast for the English version of The Lion King (2019) includes Beyonce as Nala, John Oliver as Zazu, John Kani as Rafiki, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Chiwetel Ejofor as Scar.0
While making the announcement of the cast, Bikram Duggal, the Head of Studio Entertainment, said, the aim of making this live action film was to reach out to a larger audience. “We cannot imagine having a better voice cast than Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan to bring the characters of Mufasa and Simba to life in Hindi,” Duggal said while talking about the news. Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King is going to release in English, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on 19th July 2019.
Sui Dhaaga Chosen For Shanghai International Film Festival
The Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan starrer Sui Dhaaga: Made In India, is chosen to compete at the Shanghai International Film Festival and becomes the only Hindi film to be selected this year.
On June 15th, Varun Dhawan took to Twitter to announce, this film was chosen to compete at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

Sui Dhaga: Made in India (2018) is a story about self reliance and pride. This Sharath Katriya directorial revolves around the lives of Mauji Sharma (Varun Dhawan) and Mamatha Sharma (Anuskha Sharma,) an honest couple who, after being treated badly by society, decide to start their own garment business. This neatly stitched narrative, lifts the spirits of entrepreneurship and also encourages the Make In India concept.
Sharing his excitement, producer Maneesh Sharma said, “The story of ‘Sui Dhaga: Made in India‘ is a special salute to the inherent entrepreneurial spirit of local artisans in India. An engaging tale about self reliance seen through a young couple’s determination against all odds, we believe this very human theme has universal appeal across the globe.”
He added, “I eagerly look forward to the audience response at a platform as prestigious as The Shanghai International Film Festival The Belt and Road Film Week.”
Anushka Sharma too was ecstatic when she said, “I’m certain that its universal storyline has the potential to appeal to audiences across the globe. It is quite special that our film has been selected in the competition category at The Shanghai International Film Festival The Belt and Road Film Week, which indicates that the power of good content can cut across languages and cultures.”
The Shanghai International Film Festival begins on 15th June.
Super 30 In Controversy – IIT Students Threaten To Hinder Release
Vikas Bahl’s directorial Super 30 is arguably one of the most anticipated films of the year. Hrithik Roshan’s fans, who have been waiting for his big screen comeback, were delighted when the makers announced this film is set to release on July 12th this year. However, troubles have not stopped for this film.
Earlier this year, a bunch of IIT students filed a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) against Anand Kumar, the mathematician on whom the film is based. The students accused Anand Kumar of being a part of a huge educational scam as he allegedly charged a sum of 33,000 rupees from the underprivileged students to be a part of his “Super 30” program. The students also questioned the makers as to how they can glorify such a person’s life. Despite this, the makers of the film remained silent and chose not to respond to the allegations.
Now, after the release of the trailer, the students, including Avinash Baro, Bikash Das, Monjit Doley and Dhaniram Taw, started a fresh investigation questioning Anand Kumar to reveal the names of the students who he tutored and helped in clearing the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE.)
Speaking to the media, the students said, “The film seems inauthentic. We never sought to damage the film, but [Kumar] has a court case against him. His reply to the PIL doesn’t address the allegations completely. He is yet to reveal the names (of students he tutored) to the court. In such a scenario, this movie can send out an incorrect message.”
The release of Super 30 was already postponed twice. The film was initially supposed to release on January 25th this year, but after Kangana Ranaut announced the same date as the release date of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, the makers of Super 30 postponed the release to July 26th. Problem occurred once again when the makers of Mental Hai Kya (another Kangana Ranaut starrer) announced the same date as the release date of their film. To avoid clashing of dates, Hrithik once again postponed the release of Super 30 release to July 12th.
Now, after so much chaos, when the film is all set to release, allegations against Anand Kumar could prove to be problematic for the film.
We will have to wait and see if the Hrithik Roshan starrer will be able to hit screens on the promised date.
Article 15 – Second Song Naina Yeh Out Now
After dropping a truly angry first song from the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15, the makers just dropped Naina Yeh, the second track from the movie. Quite unlike the first song, Naina Yeh is all about experiencing your emotions and opening up to the person you truly love.
Naina Yeh is composed by Piyush Shankar and sung by Yasser Desai and Aakansha Sharma. What makes this song stand out is, one can connect with the emotions of this song because of the lyrics. The actors maintained themselves in a manner which is restricted, leaving the interpretations largely to the listener. Check out the song here to know what we mean!
When eyes do the talking..
Presenting #NainaYeh, a beautiful and romantic number from #Article15https://t.co/9Te3S3jgA2 @anubhavsinha #Piyushshankar @yasserdesai #AakankshaSharma #IshaTalwar @ZeeStudios_ @ZeeMusicCompany @sirfgaurav #BenarasMediaWorks

The first song released from this movie was an angry rap song called Shuru Karein Yeh. Depicting all the things which are wrong with the world, the first song gave one an idea of what to expect from the movie. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Article 15 is perhaps one of the most awaited movies this month.
Apart from seeing Ayushmann Khurrana in a brand new light, the story of this film is also quite an intriguing one, with inspiration drawn from a horrific gang rape case. To make things all the more exciting, this movie sees Ayushmann Khurana play the role of a cop for the first time in his career!
Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana, this movie also stars Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, M. Nasser, Ashish Verma, Sushil Pandey, Subrajyoti Bharat, Ronjini Chakraborty and Zeeshan Ayub in the lead roles. Article 15 is scheduled to hit the screens on the 21st of June, so block your calendars now!
