Director: Omung Kumar
Cast: Vivek Oberoi, Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Anjan Srivastav, Darshan Kumar, Zarina Wahab, Rajendra Gupta, Boman Irani
Just like the name of the biopic suggests, PM Narendra Modi is based on the life of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Chronicling the beginning of his life as a tea seller at a railway station, the movie maps the political journey of the Prime Minister. The biopic climaxes at the point where Mr. Narendra Modi swears in as the Prime Minister of India in the year 2014!
Despite the release of PM Narendra Modi being delayed by the Election Commission of India (EC) till after the Lok Sabha elections, the release is nothing short of a victory parade. Since the beginning of the movie, the makers have made sure they pay tribute to PM Modi in every way possible.
Every frame is a tribute to the rise of man who was once a tea seller at a railway station who rose to first become a RSS member and then the Prime Minister of the Country. For those who love the man unconditionally, this biopic is a reaffirmation of their faith but, for those who like to watch biopics with a solid dose of reality, will question the finer points.
While Modi is shown in almost god like form, the opposition is shown as a weak and incompetent party. Perhaps what makes a stark notable point here is that Manmohan Singh has absolutely no speaking role in the film. While businessman Narayanan is seen working with journalist Kumar to bring down Mr. Modi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are shown as figureheads with not much of a role.
The only other character in the film who has almost as much screen space as Mr. Modi is Boman Irani, who plays the man responsible for giving Gujarat the Tata Group. Unlike other biopics (Thackeray for example,) PM Narendra Modi offers no points of debate.
Overall, the film is worth a watch if you are a Narendra Modi Ji fan but not if you want to watch a well thought out biopic.
Udham Singh Biopic Gets A Release Date
Sardar Udham Singh, Vicky Kaushal’s next film, finally has a release date. Based on the life of Udham Singh, a revolutionary who was a part of the Indian freedom struggle, this Shoojit Sircar directorial is going to hit the screens on the 2nd of October, 2020.
Talking about the film, Shoojit Sircar said in a statement, “Yes we will be releasing on 2nd October 2020. Keeping in mind the remaining shoot schedule, the post production process and the time required to complete the film, my producers and good friends Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar advised this date for a feasible release next year, hence I decided to go ahead with it!”
Making a film about this revolutionary man was Sircar’s dream. The Country remembers Udham Singh for shooting Brigadier General Reginald Dyer and Michael O’Dwyer, the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, in 1940. Udham Singh killed the two men to avenge the death of all the people killed during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre (1919) in Punjab.
Apart from this biopic, Vicky Kaushal is currently working on Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship, which is scheduled to release on the 15th of November, 2019. Shoojit Sircar, on the other hand, is working on Gulabo Sitaabo, which will star Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead roles.
Written by Ritesh Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya, Sardar Udham Singh is bankrolled by Rising Sun Films.
Stay tuned for more updates.

Article 15 – Second Song Naina Yeh Out Now
After dropping a truly angry first song from the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15, the makers just dropped Naina Yeh, the second track from the movie. Quite unlike the first song, Naina Yeh is all about experiencing your emotions and opening up to the person you truly love.
Naina Yeh is composed by Piyush Shankar and sung by Yasser Desai and Aakansha Sharma. What makes this song stand out is, one can connect with the emotions of this song because of the lyrics. The actors maintained themselves in a manner which is restricted, leaving the interpretations largely to the listener. Check out the song here to know what we mean!
When eyes do the talking..

The first song released from this movie was an angry rap song called Shuru Karein Yeh. Depicting all the things which are wrong with the world, the first song gave one an idea of what to expect from the movie. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Article 15 is perhaps one of the most awaited movies this month.
Apart from seeing Ayushmann Khurrana in a brand new light, the story of this film is also quite an intriguing one, with inspiration drawn from a horrific gang rape case. To make things all the more exciting, this movie sees Ayushmann Khurana play the role of a cop for the first time in his career!
Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana, this movie also stars Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, M. Nasser, Ashish Verma, Sushil Pandey, Subrajyoti Bharat, Ronjini Chakraborty and Zeeshan Ayub in the lead roles. Article 15 is scheduled to hit the screens on the 21st of June, so block your calendars now!
