Kareena Kapoor Khan, a member of one of the original families of Bollywood, has been in the industry for almost two decades now. Portraying a wide range of roles during her illustrious career, Kareena Kapoor proved time and again that she is a true force of nature in the industry. Here’s taking a look at some of the best performances and movies Kareena gave us so far!
Perhaps one of the finest Bollywood debuts at the time, Kareena Kapoor made an amazing entry into Bollywood by playing the role of Nazneen in J.P. Dutta’s Refugee. In fact, her performance was so outstanding, it made her the highlight of this particular movie (despite being paired opposite Abhishek Bachchan.)
2. Jab We Met
A movie that was Kareena Kapoor through and through, Jab We Met brought to the fore the bubbly and fun side of this particular Kapoor. With all her emotions exactly where they needed to be, Bebo pulled off this role with supreme ease. Not only was she brilliant at acting, she was extremely convincing, giving all women who watched the film major feels. A truly brilliant performance, this movie was all kinds of amazing!
Playing the role of a prostitute, Kareena did an extremely convincing job in Chameli by portraying an extremely raw character. One of the reasons this movie was so important for her was that before it came along, Bebo was almost going to be typecast into a particular kind of role. However, when people saw her play a different character so flawlessly, everyone just had to sit up and take notice!
4. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum
While you may judge and mock this particular Karan Johar film, your childhood was incomplete if you didn’t watch Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. What makes it all the more amazing is the very well thought out characters, especially the one played by Kareena Kapoor! Come on, who else can play the role of Poo better than the ultimate Glam Doll herself, right?
Another first of sorts, Dev saw Kareena in her natural element. Playing the role of a Muslim girl fighting against everything wrong in the world, this movie saw Kareena move far away from the typical roles she played till that point. A bonus for Bebo lovers? Not only did she pull off the character really well, she also sang a song in the movie! If this isn’t a Kareena Kapoor film, what else would it be? The critics agreed and they gave her the Best Actress Award at Filmfare for her efforts!
6. Udta Punjab
There is something to be said about Kareena’s desire to do characters which aren’t expected from her. Playing the role of a doctor in the drug addled city of Punjab, Kareena proved how wrong it was to stereotype people and put them into boxes. Perhaps one of her finest performances to date, Udta Punjab reestablished Bebo’s position as a superwoman in the industry!
7. Ki and Ka
When you are given a script that demands marriage between two people were the husband stays at home, what would you do? Would you take the script or say no? Bebo did exactly what you wouldn’t do and did a brilliant job at proving to everyone that it’s okay to be true to yourself even when the society says no. So convincing was her performance in this movie, she showed women everywhere it was okay to bake the cake and eat it too!
8. Veere Di Wedding
Sticking to the theme of her character in Ki And Ka, Bebo did it again in Veere Di Wedding. Pointing out everything wrong in the Indian society and how one should do what is best for them, Kareena was outstanding in this particular movie. After the intense character she played in Udta Punjab, this particular movie saw one of the most riveting performances by Kareena!
Through the years, Bebo has grown from being Poo to being the girl who knows her foothold. If you think we missed out on any other brilliant roles played by her, comment and let us know!
Cast: Sara Ali Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Pooja Gor and Nitish Bhardwaj
Director: Abhishek Kapoor
Based on a love story that comes together in the light of a tragic life altering disaster, Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath brings together multiple issues (love through religions and natural calamities to name a few,) weaving a beautiful tale toward the end. Centered around the cloud burst and the subsequent flash floods of 2013 in Uttarakhand, Kedarnath attempts at bridging the gap caused by religion in the wake of a natural calamity.
Mansoor Khan, a local porter (played by Sushant Singh Rajput,) falls in love with Mukku, a Hindu girl (played by Sara Ali Khan) visiting the holy temple of Kedarnath. While Mukku’s and Mansoor’s parents play the disapproving parents of children who fall in love despite all that is against them, Mansoor plays the man who proves that he doesn’t care about all the odds very obviously stacked against him.
With the devastating floods playing one of the key elements in this particular movie, the strong love between the two leads (with their own fair share of drama,) makes for the rest of the parts. As Sara Ali Khan’s debut film, Kedarnath could not have worked better in bringing out the best in her. Another point that works really well for this Abhishek Kapoor directorial is the fact, it proves love exists no matter what. In fact, one of the key points in this movie is the way Kapoor shows Muslim porters living in harmony in a town where Shiva is the main idol.
While Sara Ali Khan plays the girl who just cannot stop talking, Sushant Singh Rajput plays the role of an unconventional hero. With seasoned ease and skill, Sushant Singh Rajput shows us the many layers involved in a sensitive issue such as love between people belonging to different religions. Although Abhishek Kapoor seems to be constantly revising a story already told multiple times in the past, Kedarnath has its own positives in the way story is treated. While the story may be one which has already been told, the film is refreshing and is worth a watch!
Simmba Song, Aankh Marey, Is Here
“Oh God! One more remake!” is Karan Johar’s opening line in Aankh Marey (a remake of the song from the 1996 movie, Tere Mere Sapne,) the just dropped song from Ranveer Singh’s and Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film, Simmba! While the last few years were all about the makeovers and revised versions, this old favourite has been remade quite well! Unlike the other remakes which released this year, Aankh Marey seems fresh and entertaining, without destroying the feels of the original song.
Written by Shabbir Ahmed, this song opens to Karan Johar dancing to the beats. Moving through the song, there are different scenes with Sara Ali Khan and Ranveer Singh grooving to the tunes of this peppy number. Listen to it here.
Old-skool jam <—> Nu-skool cred !!!

The makers also give us a special performance in the middle of the song! While there was talk about a special appearance, not many would have thought it was going to be made by the Golmaal cast! Halfway through the song, Kunal Kemmu, Shreyas Talpade and Tushar Kapoor join Arshad Warsi in paying respects to the original song from Tere Mere Sapne. While the original version of this song was sung by Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy, this new song is sung by Neha Kakkar, Mika Singh and Kumar Sanu.
Simmba is a remake of the 2015 Tollywood super hit movie, Temper. Directed by Rohit Shetty, this film sees Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan playing key roles. Furthermore, Simmba also sees Sonu Sood in a very strong negative role. Simmba is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and is scheduled to hit the screens on the 28th of December this year!
Uri Trailer Released
After keeping us all on tenterhooks with stills and teasers from Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal’s next film, the makers finally dropped the trailer a little while ago. Although the teaser and the posters had already set the anticipation levels quite high, the trailer increased the hype all the more.
The just dropped trailer tells the story of how the Indian Army conducted a series of surgical strikes in retaliation to the alleged attacks by a terror group from Pakistan in Uri, a district in Kashmir. Watch the trailer here and now!
— Vicky Kaushal (@vickykaushal09) December 5, 2018
The trailer opens with Yami Gautami (playing the role of an intelligence officer) interrogating a suspect. The two and a half minute trailer then moves forward to show Vicky Kaushal training his team and delivering a hard hitting speech which makes his soldiers fight for India with renewed vigour. The line, “Indian Army didn’t start this war, but we will bloody hell finish it,” forms the central crux of this thrilling movie and is seen resonating throughout the trailer as well.
It’s refreshing to see Bollywood deliver such a hard hitting and intense drama after such a long time. With Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautami and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles, Uri: The Surgical Strike promises to be an exciting watch, to say the least. Directed and written by Aditya Dhar, Uri: The Surgical Strike has all the leads putting their best foot forward.
Speaking about Uri: The Surgical Strike, Dhar earlier said, “This is the story of what happened in those eleven days. It’s an honour and very reassuring to be backed by Ronnie Screwvala and to execute on this vision and what we believe is an engaging and thrilling story inspired by this true-life incident.” Uri: The Surgical Strike is scheduled to hit the screens on the 11th of January, 2019!
Zero New Song, Issaqbaazi, Is Here Now
Issaqbaazi, the brand new song from Zero, is finally here and unlike the first song, Mera Naam Tu, this one is all kinds of exciting! While Mera Naam Tu is a love ballad and shows the growth of a love story between the characters of Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, Issaqbaazi has quite a different story line.
Issaqbaazi is all about high energy, a lot of colours and engaging beats. The makers of Zero promised a brilliant Eid release for this film and they showed us exactly how, through this new song. Listen to it here!
Akele chale the ishq ke safar par, karne mehboob ko raazi, dost aisa mila raah mein, kar aaye Issaqbaazi.#IssaqbaaziOutNow https://t.co/c3NANjdCJ7@beingsalmankhan @anushkasharma #KatrinaKaif @aanandlrai @ajayatulonline @irshad_kamil #SukhwinderSingh @aslidivyakumar @remodsouza
— Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) December 4, 2018
Issaqbaazi opens with Shah Rukh Khan’s character jumping with joy after getting a kiss from Katrina Kaif, his favourite star. Just as he is celebrating his happiness, he takes part in a dance competition being judged by none other than Salman Khan! While one would think Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan sharing screen space was enough, the makers gave us another treat by showing Remo D’ Souza and Ganesh Acharya dancing to the beats as well! Talk about a double bonus!
With an old school charm to the beats and music that will want to make you groove, Issaqbaazi is sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Divya Kumar! With both Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan matching each other’s steps to the tune, this song is everything one could expect from a reunion of the two Khans. Directed by Anand L. Rai, Zero also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Zero is scheduled to hit the screens on the 21st of December this year, so do not miss out!
Simmba Trailer Finally Out
Just when the media is settling down over the gorgeous pictures from DeepVeer’s wedding, Ranveer Singh gave everyone something else to look forward! After a long, long wait, Rohit Shetty and team finally dropped the trailer of his much awaited film, Simmba.
While this is the first time Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty are working together, this film also brings together a brand new pair in the form of Sara Ali Khan and Ranveer Singh! The just dropped trailer promises a lot of energy, a lot of action and a lot of drama. Watch the trailer here and now!
— Ranveer Singh (@RanveerOfficial) December 3, 2018
The trailer opens with Ajay Devgn’s character introducing Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh’s character in the film.) While there were definitely talks about Ranveer’s character, Ajay Devgn’s cameo appearance in Simmba came as a refreshing surprise! The trailer maps Sangram Bhalerao’s struggle from being a corrupt cop, to one who is a responsible upholder of the law! The central crux of Simmba seems to form around the molestation of a woman, who Sangram treats as his younger sister.
A remake of Temper, the 2015 Tollywood blockbuster, Simmba not only has Sara Ali Khan playing a key role, it also has Sonu Sood playing a compelling negative role. Ranveer’s first film after his wedding, Simmba is going to be quite an interesting watch!
Directed by Rohit Shetty and co produced by Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty Picturez, Simmba is scheduled to hit the silver screens on the 28th of December this year! One of Ranveer Singh’s and Sara Ali Khan’s most talked about film, this Rohit Shetty directorial is going to be quite an interesting watch!
