While a lot of Bollywood films are considered children friendly, there are not a lot made specifically for children. On a day like today, that celebrates children and the inner child in you, it is but fair to take a look at some truly beautiful movies made about and for children.
1. Stanley Ka Dabba
Amole Gupte debuted as a director with this amazing children centered film and boy, did he make a splash! Bringing together a beautiful story of school and lunch boxes, Stanley Ka Dabba was exactly the kind of movie needed to be made for people to revisit their childhood in all its glory. However, despite all the happy memories, the film has a subtle message to it and one really has to pay attention to the movie to understand the underlying point.
2. Raju Chacha
An Anil Devgn directorial, Raju Chacha had Ajay Devgn and Kajol playing the lead roles. Narrating the story of three kids who are trapped by a villain trying to steal their property after the death of their father, this movie was a keeper for the ages. A perfect medley of nostalgia, drama, suspense and thrill, Raju Chacha was a treat for sore eyes.
3. King Uncle
Directed by Rakesh Roshan, this movie talks about what happens when you let your guard down. Revolving around the story of a strict and controlling man (played by Jackie Shroff,) King Uncle shows how all one needs is a child to let go off all the things holding you back. A coming of age story, this Rakesh Roshan movie still gives one major family goals even though you have watched it multiple times.
4. Mr. India
Directed by Shekhar Kapur, Mr. India is perhaps extremely relevant even now. With clearly thought out villains, ghosts and superheroes, Mr. India was the perfect combination of fun, laughter, drama, tragedy and sadness. While all the characters played their parts brilliantly, the film would not be the success it was had it not been for the beautiful story line. If you are feeling particularly nostalgic about your childhood, watch the movie today!
5. Chachi 420
Directed by Kamal Haasan, Chachi 420 was an adaptation of the Hollywood super hit, Mrs. Doubtfire. Based on the story of a father going above and beyond to make things right with his daughter, Chachi 420 was one of the most heartwarming films made about the relationship between a father and his daughter. You know what to watch to take you down memory lane today!
6. Koi Mil Gaya
Another Rakesh Roshan directorial, Koi Mil Gaya was all about how you can excel if you have a protective hand making sure you are okay. Loosely drawing inspiration from Hollywood movies like ET, Koi Mil Gaya showed the beauty of acceptance and how one grows through adversities. Definitely a must watch film on a day like today!
7. Taare Zameen Par
Another film about accepting children despite their shortcomings and pitfalls, Taare Zameen Par was about accepting your child with both the negatives and the positives. This movie was Aamir Khan’s debut as a director and not many can bring to life a story like this with just the right amount of emotions and intensity. With a wonderful message at the end, Taare Zameen Par needed to be made and told with a loud and clear message. As parents, you should do all you can in your power to help your child grow, even if the child has problems you do not understand.
Here’s wishing all of you a very happy Children’s Day and if you have other movies you would like us to watch today, comment and let us know!
Manikarnika Trailer – An Early Christmas Gift
Kangana Ranaut’s highly anticipated film, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, is finally going to hit the screens soon. The makers of Manikarnika just dropped an extremely epic trailer! With the multiple posters and glimpses given into what to expect from the movie, the trailer gives us a clear direction of toward which this particular film is going.
The more than two minute long trailer shows us the journey of one of the most courageous warriors, Rani Laxmibai, fighting to save her kingdom from being invaded by the East India Company. A fierce mother and a warrior like no other, Rani Laxmibai braved an entire army to the very end, without holding back in any which way. Watch the action packed trailer here and now.
#ManikarnikaTrailer makes a strong impact… #Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead… Directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and Kangana Ranaut… 25 Jan 2019 release… Link: https://t.co/OXxApUKVZC

Amitabh Bachchan’s voice acts as a voiceover in the background and the trailer shows how Rani Laxmibai is put on the throne after the death of her husband, the King of Jhansi. With sword fighting and horse riding all in one place, the trailer takes us through how Manikarnika, or Manu, goes on to become Rani Laxmibai, a queen and a warrior. The trailer also shows how the East India Company invades the kingdom of Jhansi, which isn’t ready for a hostile takeover.
Even with all the negativity and expectations surrounding Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, the release of the trailer comes as a pleasant and much awaited reprise. An ode to a woman who fought for freedom over a hundred sixty years ago with her head held high, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi was a story which needed to be told even if it is after almost 2 centuries. Directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and Kangana Ranaut, the film also stars Ishu Sengupta, Suresh Oberoi, Atul Kulkarni and Zeeshan Ayyub in key roles. Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is scheduled to hit the screens on the 25th of January next year!
Simmba Song, Tere Bin Is Now Out!
After Aankh Marey, the Simmba team is back with yet another beautiful song titled Tere Bin! The second song from this movie is quite unlike the first, in the sense that it is a romantic track which will make you want to root for Ranveer Singh’s and Sara Ali Khan’s characters!
Tere Bin is a remake of the song Tere Bin Nahi Lagda Dil Mera Dholna by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and just like the original, this song is also just as soulful. Filmed in the scenic Switzerland, the second track from Simmba takes one down the nostalgic road of the 1990s. Listen to the track here!

Written by Rashmi Virag and sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Asees Kaur, the revised version of the song reminds one of the classic songs in Yash Chopra’s films, where the lead pairs were seen romancing each other in picturesque hill stations. Simmba, a remake of Jr. NTR’s super hit movie, Temper, sees Ranveer Singh playing the role of a corrupt cop who changes his ways of life after a major incident takes place.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, Simmba sees Sara Ali Khan’s character playing the love interest of Ranveer Singh’s character. Simmba will also star Sonu Sood and Ashutosh Rana in negative roles. Simmba will not only have Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starring together for the first time, it will also see Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh working together for the first time as well! If you missed the previous song from the film, listen to it here!

2. Monochrome is the order of the season

3. All about the pastels
This past year in fashion is all about embracing and accepting the softer shades of life. With large splashes of blues and pinks, designers like Anushree Reddy and Gaurang Shah dedicated entire collections to these colours! In fact, pastels are the only shades which are always around, no matter what.
4. All about the jackets, capes and ponchos
If you thought the time for jackets, capes and ponchos was long gone, then think again. From sheer capes to embellished ponchos and to embroidered dresses, this year was all about experimenting with styles from the good old days. If you are thinking of upping your wardrobe game, then you should definitely check out some uber cool styles by Rahul Mishra.

5. Silver is the flavour of the season
All that glitters this year in fashion is not gold, but silver! In fact, it was such a brilliant colour and so loved by everyone, that even Karan Johar sported this colour with pride! Did you know, the ever flamboyant director dyed his hair silver for the Falguni Shane Peacock Collection? How chic is that?
6. Flowers for the win
Flowers may wither and die, but as a style statement, they are always in vogue. From Anita Dongre who took inspiration from “a garden of flowers” for her new collection, to Julie Shah who presented a new collection called Gulab Baug, all the designers are embracing this trend with a renewed vigour!

— Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) December 12, 2018
With Babita grooving to the beats in various settings, this new track sees a glimpse of this character in an avatar like this, which is not going to be shown again during the rest of the movie.
— Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) December 11, 2018
In fact, Katrina said so herself during a previous interview. “This is the only time you will see Babita, my character, in a glamorous avatar in the film.” She further added, “In reality, Babita is going through the darkest phase in her life. Her relationship is over. Her career is on the downhill, and she is dejected and vulnerable.”
With lyrics by Irshad Kamil, Husn Parcham was the third track after Mera Naam Tu and Issaqbaazi, which featured Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. A story about a dwarf (Bauaa, played by Shah Rukh khan,) falling in love, Zero is scheduled to release on the 21st of December this year!
Cheat India Trailer Released
Cheat India, Emraan Hashmi’s first production, finally has a trailer to its name. While Hashmi and team gave us a series of posters and teasers as an idea of what to expect from the film, the just dropped trailer tell us exactly what the film is about.
With Emraan Hashmi in the lead, Cheat India highlights the other side of the Indian education system. The longer than 2 minutes trailer shows Emraan playing the role of a man who says there is nothing wrong in taking money from the rich if it helps the poor get to a better place. Watch the trailer here.
On your ‘marks’, get set, CHEAT…..

— emraan hashmi (@emraanhashmi) December 12, 2018
Gripping, tight and to the point, the trailer shows Hashmi’s character playing the role of a middleman. Taking money from the rich and paying members from the lower factions of society to write exams, Hashmi’s character is unapologetic with this scam. Moving far away from the cliches a story like this can have, Cheat India tells a story many of us have only read in the papers or seen on the news.
The trailer is extremely well made and makes the most of the time in hand, with Emraan Hashmi moving away from being the eternal “serial kisser.” The no nonsense trailer is a relief and quite an eye opener, giving one hope this film is going to be a refreshing change in the current time in the world of Bollywood movies.
Directed by Soumik Sen, this particular Emraan Hashmi starrer shows the world the underworld side of education and how people can go to any length to get what they want. Co produced by the makers of Tumhari Sulu and Neerja, Cheat India is scheduled to hit the screens on 25th January, 2019!
