Biopics, when made about the life of people who have accomplished great things, are a treat to watch. However, when they are made on the celebrities themselves, there is an added pleasure while watching them. From Sanju to The Dirty Picture, the biopics made about our celebrities are riveting, to say the least. Check out these epic biopics on some of the most entertaining and talked about stars in the world of acting and cinema.
When Rajkumar Hirani tried his hand at a biopic based on the life of Sanjay Dutt, a lot of people were skeptical about the final outcome. However, the moment the film hit the screens, all doubts disappeared. So good was Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Sanjay Dutt that one was left wanting more from the film! From being accused about womanising to being involved in the Mumbai bombing case, everything about Sanjay Dutt’s life has been extremely interesting, to say the least.
2. The Dirty Picture
Silk Smitha was perhaps one of the most controversial actresses in South India and when a movie on her life was announced, everyone wanted to watch the movie. Known for her highly controversial and erotic roles, Silk Smitha surprised everyone by being bold despite all the criticisms she received. When Vidya Balan played her in The Dirty Picture, an entirely different side of this lady was brought to the fore. One of the best biopics about the life of an actress in recent times!
3. Karenjit Kaur
The story about the life of Canadian actress Sunny Leone, Karenjit Kaur created its fair share of controversies when it hit the OTT platforms. Based on the life of this extremely controversial actress, this particular series talks about how a girl from a conventional Punjabi home breaks boundaries and sets out to do something she is really passionate about. An inspiring tale, this web series tells quite a detailed story about Sunny’s early life and how she struggled to reach the top. An interesting watch, Karenjit Kaur shows how everyday life is like for actors on the other side of work.
Based on the life of legendary actress Savitri (known as the first superstar of India,) Mahanti was a riveting biopic. A Telugu biopic, this particular story brought to the fore the hard times this lady faced to become one of the leading ladies in the world of acting and cinema. A film that needed to be made, Mahanti was a story like no other.
While there haven’t been too many biopics based on the lives of Indian celebrities, the ones mentioned here stand as the best in these categories. With every biopic addressing the other side of the celebrities we adore so much, these films also give us a much needed reality check. Which actor or actress deserves a biopic about their life? Bollywood Movies All About Food
Food, colour, camera and Bollywood always go hand in hand. There’s something truly magical about watching a movie which brings to life all your favourite cuisines, coupled with a beautiful love story. If you’re a foodie and love Bollywood movies, what could be better than this combination, right? We agree! Here’s taking a look at movies which don’t just make your mouth water, but also tug at your heartstrings:
1. Stanley Ka Dabba
A mean principal who looks at stealing food from students and a child who wants to share his food with his friends: Stanley Ka Dabba tells a two tiered story. With food playing the unifying factor, the movie tells the story of how a little boy confronts not just his bully, but also how he comes to terms with his past. A beautiful movie through and through, Stanley Ka Dabba is heartwarming in every way! The bottom line? No matter what happens, good food always warms your soul.
2. Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana
A lot can happen over a hot pot of curry and if you watch Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, you realise just how true this fact is. A family gets into a major crisis and the only thing which can save the family from ruins is if they find the secret ingredient which makes the chicken curry taste so amazing! A treat to not just the eyes but the stomach as well, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana has a simple message: a good recipe takes time to perfect and once that happens, everything falls in place.
3. Cheeni Kum
Have you ever fallen in love with someone because the sugar was too less in your food? Cheeni Kum shows how despite having differences in the way certain dishes are cooked, you can still find an acceptable middle ground. To recreate Hyderabadi Zafrani Pulao in itself is an extremely hard task. To get it right to perfection is even harder. Amitabh Bachchan, playing the role of the chef, realises he’s not always right, when Tabu’s character tells him the right recipe of Hyderabadi Zafrani Pulao does have sugar! While at the surface of things, Cheeni Kum may seem like a run of the mill love story, if you look at the subtle nuances, there is a lot more. Attention to detail, the love for one’s country and food which is always cooked in the best possible way, this movie is all things beautiful!
4. English Vinglish
There are so many times when you watch a movie and are surprised by how there are still certain stigmas and principles people follow despite being supremely educated. English Vinglish shows us just that. While the central character (played by Sridevi,) is a mother whose family doesn’t consider her opinions because she doesn’t know English, the movie shows how despite all the pitfalls, the mother still runs her own business! Discovering the fact that she is an entrepreneur (famous for her laddus,) the mother realises knowing English isn’t the most important thing in the world. With food playing the central theme of this particular film, English Vinglish is more than just a mother accepting she can change the ways of her life, but also how food can make even the worst situations right.
5. Ramji Londonwaley
When you see a Tamilian Brahmin working as a chef in London (while living there illegally,) you think you are in for a different story altogether. They say, the way to a man’s heart is through food, but in Ramji Londonwaley, the central character (played by R. Madhavan,) does the exact opposite! He uses food to impress not only the love of his life, but also the people of London, by coming up with the recipe for a sugar free halwa! Not only does this help him win the hearts of the people in London, this also helps the lead win over his lady love. Talk about love through food done right!
6. The Lunchbox
When you think Mumbai, you think lunch boxes, crowded trains and people shuffling to and fro. When you think The Lunchbox, these very same thoughts are brought to life! A misdelivered lunchbox brings to life the story of two unhappy people and a letter which forms a unique love story. Witty repartee, hidden secrets and a strong craving for good food make this story all the more beautiful. With an open ending and a beautiful tale, The Lunchbox is a story of acceptance and finding love.
7. Dawat E Ishq
Love doesn’t just develop with the hope of a happy tummy, but by having the love for something truly good. A girl from Hyderabad, who’s sick of men asking for dowry, tries duping a chef from Lucknow. However, with all the tangdi kebabs and the biryanis, true love blossoms. Like every movie with food as the central theme, Dawat E Ishq also talks about how in every situation, food can fix everything!
When food brings you so much joy, why not share the joy of food while watching movies about food? If you think we missed out on any other movies with food playing a pivotal role in the story, comment and let us know!
Mere Gully Mein Song From Gully Boy Out Now
A little while ago, the makers of Ranveer Singh’s and Alia Bhatt’s next film, Gully Boy, dropped a brand new song from the film, called Mere Gully Mein! While the previous song, Apna Time Aayega, has practically become a war cry of sorts, the new song is being called a “dhamaka!”
Composed by rappers Divine and Naezy, Mere Gully Mein has Ranveer Singh’s and Siddhant Chaturvedi’s characters in the lead roles. A rap battle of sorts with some really intense lyrics, this new song is definitely one for the golden ages. Listen to the song here and now!

The new song talks about how music can help any one get through life. With the lyrics being supervised by Divine, the song sees Ranveer’s growth as a professional rapper! Just a couple of days before the entire album track is scheduled to drop, the team is making everyone’s heart beat faster with each new song.
Gully Boy brings to life the story of Divine and other rappers from Mumbai, who, through their rap songs, talk about what life is like for those without privileges. Primarily mapping the growth of Divine’s journey of becoming one of the most famous rappers in India, this movie has quite an intriguing story to tell.
Directed by Zoya Akhtar (known for making films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Dil Dhadakne Do,) Gully Boy stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Kalki Koechlin in key roles. Easily one of the most awaited movies of the year, Gully Boy is scheduled to release on the 14th of February this year!
Total Dhamaal Trailer Is Finally Here!
Total Dhamaal, easily one of the most anticipated films of this year, finally has a trailer to its name. Part three of the Dhamaal series, this new part has practically all the members from the original cast, with a good number of new faces thrown into the mix! What makes the movie so much more exciting is, it brings together the extremely famous pair of Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, after almost 26 years!
Although the first two parts of this film had Sanjay Dutt playing the lead role, this new installment is going to focus on Ajay Devgn, who is going to make his Dhamaal debut! The almost three minutes long trailer seems to draw large influences from the popular Hangover series. Further, the trailer also gives one an insight into all the different characters we can expect from the film. From Johnny Lever, to Madhuri Dixit, to Anil Kapoor and to Ajay Devgn, every actor’s character is brought to the front. Watch the trailer here!

Here’s a little tit bit which will make you all the more excited for the film to hit the screens. Remember Crystal, the monkey from the Hangover series? There’s a still from the trailer which shows her on Ajay Devgn’s shoulder! Nostalgic or what? One of the other things which makes one want to watch this movie is when Ajay Devgn is shown walking the ramp with a lion by his side! Promising to be one of the wildest parts of the Dhamaal series, this trailer has definitely made waiting for the movie even harder than it already was. The trailer promises to be an adventurous ride which is quite unlike the other two films. To make matters all the more exciting, A ride in the desert, hints at the search for a hidden treasure and all the animals make the wait for Total Dhamaal all the more exciting! The trailer also shows us glimpses of Sonakshi Sinha’s cameo in the film as Ajay Devgn and she are all set to recreate Helen’s song, Mungda!
Directed by Indra Kumar, Total Dhamaal stars Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Javed Jaffrey, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Mishra and Boman Irani. With a mixture of the old and the new, this Indra Kumar directorial promises to be a wild, wild ride. Total Dhamaal is scheduled to hit the screens on 22nd February this year, so mark your calendars and watch it on the first day!
Sushant Singh Rajput’s Birthday – From An Engineer To An Actor
Sushant Singh Rajput, an actor who grew to fame with the show Pavitra Rishta, has quite an inspiring story to tell. As the actor celebrates his birthday today, here’s taking a look at his journey from being a student of engineering to becoming one of the most sought after actors in the world of Bollywood!
From engineering to theater
The youngest son of a government official, Sushant Singh Rajput never aimed to become an actor. With an eye for the sciences and a passion to achieve something impossible, the actor wanted to become an engineer. However, Sushant also had the passion for dancing and while working on getting his engineering degree, he joined Shiamak Davar’s institute of dance!
Dancing gave Sushant a new lease of life and halfway through his degree, he decided to take a leap of faith by leaving the educational path of life for acting! In fact, in a recent interview, Sushant even said, unless Shiamak Davar hadn’t pushed him to do theater, he would never have thought of moving from Delhi to Mumbai to pursue his dreams. To improve his acting skills, Sushant even joined Barry John’s theater classes, a choice which gave him the confidence of getting better at his craft!
The initial days of acting
Acting gave Sushant Singh Rajput the freedom of hiding behind a character on the stage. Working through a character helped him break through his fear of speaking in front of a large audience and helped him accept that it was truly liberating to do theater! Just like any struggling actor, Sushant Singh Rajput was desperately waiting for his big filmy break. In fact, he used to push through the throngs and played the role of extras in more than one film just so he could get recognized!
While on the sets of one of his plays, Sushant got discovered by the casting team of Balaji Telefilms. The team auditioned him and roped him in for Pavitra Rishta. The moment Sushant entered the world of television as Manav Deshmukh in Pavitra Rishta, there was no turning back for him.
The big break in Bollywood
While Pavitra Rishta may have been Sushant’s ticket to the Bollywood world, it was his role as a crazed cricket fan in Kai Po Che which made everyone sit up and take notice. Kai Po Che gave Sushant a much needed break in Bollywood and with one brilliant performance after another, there was absolutely no looking back for the actor. What sealed his fate in Bollywood was perhaps the amazing performance he gave by playing the role of M.S. Dhoni in Neeraj Pandey’s biopic based on the life of M.S. Dhoni (M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story.) This biopic was appreciated by not just the audience, but the critics as well.
Sushant Singh Rajput has been part of a wide array of films and is one of the few actors to never be typecast into one single kind of role. While he played the role of a porter in Kedarnath, he will play the role of a dacoit in Sonchiriya (scheduled to release on the 8th of February this year.)
With no connections at all in the world of Bollywood, Sushant’s journey to the top is one filled with struggles and a dream to make his passion come true. Here’s wishing the extremely talented (and good looking actor,) a very happy birthday and a life filled with more amazing performances down the road!
