Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan: two of the most prolific names in the Bollywood industry, have a love story that makes everyone around them still want to believe in fairy tales. A story worth filming, their love was so strong, it broke several hearts. Without further ado, here is jumping into a story which needs to be told, heard and read!
The first time Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Chibber laid eyes on each other was at a common friend’s party in the year 1984. Only 18 years old, Shah Rukh Khan fell head over heels in love with the 14 year old Gauri. He was so shy at the point, he did not have the courage to ask her for a dance. When he finally went up to her, Gauri took one look at the nervous wreck standing in front of her and said no, as she was waiting for her “boyfriend.”

The news broke the young King Khan’s heart, making him forget about love and happily ever afters. It was only much later when the two were on a sporadic phone call that Gauri told Shah Rukh the truth. She was at the party with her brother and not her boyfriend! Shah Rukh’s heart opened all over again and that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Love actually? No. Not quite.
Gauri very quickly fell for Shah Rukh’s wit, charm and easy manner. While the two seemed very happy on the surface, Gauri realised Shah Rukh may seem easy going on the outside, but was really controlling on the inside. SRK would want Gauri to not leave her hair open, would not want her to talk to other men without him being around and other overbearing things like that. SRK’s over possessive attitude got so bad that on the day after her birthday, Gauri disappeared to Bombay with her friends.

When Gauri disappeared, SRK realised he realised he was not only in love with her, he could not live without her. An out and out Bollywood hero, Shah Rukh Khan turned into a real life Devdas. With a mere Rs. 10,000 in his pocket and only the name of the city in mind, Shah Rukh Khan reached Mumbai, desperately in love and hopeful in life. A frantic Shah Rukh searched all over the city, with no real luck. After almost giving up hope, he saw Gauri sitting by herself at a beach. The moment the two saw each other, it was like they had eyes only for each other. That moment, with the sun in their eyes and wind in their hair, the two knew the only thing to do next was to get married.

Religion plays a huge part in every major aspect of life and it did in Gauri’s and Shah Rukh’s marriage as well. While they took the momentous and life changing choice to tie the knot, their parents needed a lot more convincing. One was a Hindu Brahmin and the other was a Muslim, a union between the two religions was just not possible. What would society say? While now it is much more accepted, mixed marriages were considered to be a definite no no at the point. After much to and fro, the parents finally gave in, coming to the understanding that nothing could stop these two from doing what they wanted.

25th October 1991 was the day Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan became one, proving to everyone love lasts beyond apprehensions and prejudices. Even after 27 years of achieving the impossible, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan remain in love, giving everyone around them solid couple goals!

Hrithik Roshan’s Birthday – Tracing The Greek God’s Journey
Although Hrithik Roshan may have been born with a silver spoon, his journey in Bollywood has been quite a ride. From having a debut in a movie which was an instant success, to overcoming not one, but two massive surgeries, Hrithik has been through a film worthy journey even in real life. As the actor turns a year older today, here’s taking a look at his impressive journey.
1. Dethroning all the bigwigs of Bollywood
When the then 26 year old Hrithik Roshan made his Bollywood debut with Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, he broke all records. Not only was it the best debut anyone could hope to have, it also earned Hrithik Roshan all the major awards of that year. In fact, even though Abhishek Bachchan, another star kid in his own right, made his debut with Refugee during the same year, it was Hrithik Roshan’s Kaho Na Pyaar Hai which completely stole the limelight. Since his very first appearance on the silver screen, there was absolutely no stopping this young powerhouse of talent!
2. Always a risk taker
While Hrithik may have made his debut in a romantic story, it was his ability as a risk taker which really put him on the map. Not many could do a movie like Koi Mil Gaya fresh into their career and turn into a success like Duggu did. In fact, every movie he acted in (a thief in Dhoom 2, a soldier in Lakshya and a visually impaired man in Kaabil,) proved, Hrithik cannot be typecast into any particular role. Perhaps this is why when it comes to being compared to the Khans, Hrithik is on a throne of his own.
3. Going through a brain surgery, knee surgery and a separation
Perhaps the first blow Hrithik faced at the start of his career was when a doctor told him he just didn’t have the genes and the physical capacity in him to become an actor. However, once he overcame that mental blockade, his knee gave way while he was shooting for Jodhaa Akbar. A major surgery and lots of exercise later, the actor was just about getting back on his feet when another major event rocked his life. His father was shot and seeing his father lying helplessly on a hospital bed changed the way Hrithik thought about life. With a series of hits punctuated with more than one major event in his life, Hrithik Roshan’s life is quite an inspiring tale. Shortly after recovering from the shock of his father’s accident, the actor had to undergo a brain surgery for the removal of a sudden clot. Even though he recovered successfully from the operation, the final blow of sorts came with the separation from his wife, which left Hrithik feeling like the world wasn’t going to work. However, he realised he had to keep working to get better and things like this shouldn’t bring him down.
4. The first superhero in Bollywood
Being a superhero in life is clearly not enough for this young hero. For a world which accepts and craves the presence of extremely intense Hollywood superheros, it was a challenge to get the audience to accept an Indian one. However, when Hrithik played the role of Krrish, no one could stop raving about his performance. In fact, not only did he connect with the younger audience, he also took over the older generation by storm!
With a host of awards, chock a block full of talent and dancing skills which could make you swoon, Hrithik Roshan is truly an unstoppable force of nature. Here’s wishing our very own Greek God an extremely happy birthday and long life ahead!

4. All about the Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga poster
While it’s already exciting to watch Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor share screen space for the first time, the plot in itself is quite intriguing. Based on a memoir about the life of former Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, The Accidental Prime Minister created a lot of furor since the moment the film was announced. A R Rahman Birthday Flashback
As A.R. Rahman, the maestro of music, turns 52 years old today, it is worth taking a moment to listen to the great music this man has given over a period of two and a half decades. From putting India on the map with his great music to earning not one, but two awards for the amazing music he created for Slumdog Millionaire, everything about this man is wonderful. On the occasion of his birthday, here’s taking a look at some of the most best songs from this man!
Although Rockstar, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer, gained fame for the more famous songs like Jo Bhi Main, Kun Faya Kun and Nadaan Parindey, Phir Se Ud Chala was perhaps one of the lesser known favourites from this movie. Different from the other songs mainly because of its rich Kashmiri influence, Phir Se Ud Chala was quite a refreshing change. Listen to Phir Se Ud Chala here.
While the Sonam Kapoor, Abhay Deol and Dhanush starrer had a lot going for it, perhaps what worked for it the most was the beautiful music composed by none other than A. R. Rahman! In fact, some of the nicest songs from this movie were Banarasiya and Tum Tak. Listen to Tum Tak here!
3. Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Although this particular Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif starrer wasn’t the success Yash Chopra thought it would be, the songs were definitely a class apart. Remember Jiya Re and Challa? These were some of the best songs A. R. Rahman composed that year! Listen to Jiya Re here!
4. Delhi 6
A trip through the quintessential roads of Old Delhi, Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi 6 was a story about homecoming and rediscovering oneself, while finding true love at the same time. However, what makes this movie work so well is the beautiful music given by A. R. Rahman, especially Rehna Tu, Masakkali and Arziyaan. Listen to Masakali here!
As the singer turns a year older and wiser today, binge listen to all his songs! Don’t forget to comment and tell us which song of his you love the most!
Top 5 Bollywood Movies Of 2018
Bollywood has given us a host of really great movies in the past and the year 2018 has been no different. When Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced Padmaavat, little did he know there would be a flurry of some really great movies releasing shortly after. Check out these amazing movies which not only hit the headlines because of their great story lines, but also because of the amount they earned at the box office!
One of the most anticipated movies from this year, Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju brought to the fore the way Sanjay Dutt lived his life. With a focus on everything that happened in this particular actor’s life, Sanju was drama, love, action and comedy: the perfect parcel which is a sure fire win for Bollywood!
Marred by multiple controversies, death threats, bounties and cuts, this Sanjay Leela Bhansali had so much drama, a movie could be made. However, when it finally hit the screens, it did complete justice not only to Rani Padmavati’s story, but to the other brave Rajput warriors as well. Without glorifying the act of sati too much, this Sanjay Leela Bhansali film was a spectacular ode to the glorious days of the Rajputs.
3. Badhaai Ho
When Badhaai Ho released, not many thought a movie like this would have made such a huge splash. However, with Ayushmann Khurrana playing the lead, how could it not? When a mother, closer to the middle age, finds herself pregnant, the choices seem slim. Badhaai Ho, on the other hand, shows there is another side to life as well! Giving a fresh perspective on life, this movie was an eye opener.
Just like Padmaavat, PadMan also had its fair share of controversies. With people claiming the story was plagiarized, to cities banning the movie because of its script, everything about this movie made the headlines. When it released, the film made just the right kind of impact and even now, people are talking about how a topic like sanitary pads is not a taboo anymore, but a necessity about which we need to talk!
Primarily a woman centered movie, Raazi was a real life story which brought to the fore a woman’s struggles in uncovering one of the biggest political issues of the year. Both Meghna Gulzar and Alia Bhatt worked together to give us this flawlessly brilliant movie, making all of us empathize with the life of a spy with more compassion than ever.
Bollywood gave us some truly great films this year, awakening in us the hope for more exciting and amazing films in the coming year. What movies are you looking forward to the most in 2019? Comment and let us know!
Major Controversies In The Bollywood World In 2018
The year 2018 has been quite a gripping one, not just in terms of the movies released, but also in terms of all the controversies which plagued the star studded industry! As the year comes to a close, here’s taking a look at everything which happened; from the Padmavaat controversies, to the #MeToo moment exploding in full force and to the lawsuits being filed.
1. The Padmaavat controversies
Since the moment Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced Padmaavat (initially titled Padmavati,) the film came under the gun for all the wrong reasons. When the trouble began in the year 2017, everything that could go wrong in the film went wrong. From a bounty being announced for Deepika Padukone’s head, to petitions being filed against the film for it to be banned in several cities, this Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie had more than its fair share of drama. Only after a series of cuts, reductions and a change in the name of the film, the Censor Board finally approved the release. Once the movie released, however, the controversies really didn’t seem that big a deal, with the movie breaking all the possible box office records!
2. The #MeToo issue
When Tanushree Dutta came out and accused Nana Patekar of harassment, the attention it garnered created a ripple effect in the entire industry, with various others coming out and talking about their experiences. The reaction was so strong, several people were brought to justice. People like Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Anu Malik, Subhash Ghai and Sajid Khan were also accused of misconduct.
3. Everything about Aiyaary
Everything about this particular Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee starrer blared trouble right from the very beginning. When the film was screened for the Revising Committee of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the officials didn’t like certain parts of the movie and insisted on cuts. Only after the film was approved by the Revising Committee did Aiyaary get approved for release! However, while that seemed to quieten down the controversy surrounding the movie, Sidharth Malhotra’s comment about the Bhojpuri dialect caused a flurry of emotions around the country. Finally, with all the hate the actor received, the Aiyaary team had to issue an official apology to quieten down the issue. Oops.
4. The plagiarism charges against PadMan
Only days after Akshay Kumar’s highly publicized and popularised movie PadMan hit the screens, the makers were charged with plagiarism! Ripu Daman Jaiswal went on social media and claimed, the script and idea for this movie were given by him during a pre production meeting with the PadMan team. Only after the makers came out and said the inspiration for the movie was drawn from Twinkle Khanna’s book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, did the controversy die down.
Clearly this year has been an interesting one! If you think we missed out on any other issues, comment and let us know!
