4. Hrithik Roshan
Despite being the heartthrob of the country (and the rest of the world,) Hrithik Roshan is a . Ranveer Singh’s Journey In Bollywood Through The Years
Ranveer Singh may have been in the industry for less than a decade, but through his choice of films from the very beginning, he has made a mark felt. Despite not having a Godfather in Bollywood, the slightly off the rails and extremely talented actor has managed to keep his ground through thick and thin. One thing the actor does not have? A type! While that may sound like a bad choice of life for most people, Ranveer makes this trait work for him like a charm! Here is taking a look at his presence in Bollywood through the years since he entered!
1. Band Baja Baarat
Making his debut in Bollywood with this very quirky film, Ranveer Singh made everyone fall in love with him and bread pakodas! Playing the role of the typical Delhi ka Chokra, Singh made headlines with his dialogue delivery and style of acting.
2. Ladies Vs. Ricky Bahl
A character slightly similar to Ranbir Kapoor’s in Bachna Ae Haseeno, with more than a hint of originality, Ranveer Singh’s second film in Bollywood more than proved his worth as an actor! Definitely one of my favourite Ranveer Singh films to date!
Despite having failed at the box office, Lootera showed a different side to Ranveer Singh as an actor! By playing the perfect con artist, Singh’s character as the eternally misunderstood orphan was perfection at its best.
4. Dil Dhadakne Do
Playing the ultimate spoilt brat in Dil Dhadakne Do, Ranveer Singh made people realise there was more to one’s life than meets the eye. Despite being part of such a star studded film, Singh more than managed to hold his own ground!
5. Bajirao Mastani
Second only to Ladies Vs. Ricky Bahl, Bajirao Mastani just has to be my favourite Ranveer Singh film! This film really set Ranveer Singh apart as a truly brilliant actor!
Deriving his strength from Govinda of the 1990s, Ranveer Singh has really made a mark in the years that he has been in the industry. You know our favourite Ranveer Singh movies. What are yours? Comment and let us know!
Anurag Kashyap’s Journey In Bollywood: From The Beginning To Now
It was the 1990s, when directors were starting to figure out their films and the kind of script they did. While there was talk of conventional cinema stereotypes being broken, no director really made the effort to work out of the box and produce thought provoking and truly unique films. Even though the directors at that point had a very loyal target audience, certain factions of the society kept craving for more, for something strong and different.
Breaking the mould
There was a very solid feeling of nepotism in the Bollywood industry during the 90s. A young boy, freshly graduated and in his early 20s, realised the very apparent need for breaking this convention. He wanted to make films which were dramatic, different and told not fancy stories, but stories of the ordinary man as well as about the dark side of the moon.
For an outsider, getting into the very closed door world of Bollywood was not an easy thing. For Anurag Kashyap, it was all the more harder because he wanted to make films no one else dared to even think about. Kashyap’s first two Bollywood films, Paanch and Black Friday, failed to create the impact he expected them to make, leaving Kashyap with not a lot of money and a lot of wasted years (7, to be exact.)
Even as a kid, Anurag Kashyap always loved horror as a genre. From stories about psychopaths, killers and gang members, everything that had a dark and twisted side was extremely appealing to this particular director. When Kashyap entered the industry, there was a very specific pattern followed by the directors. Trees, lovemaking, dramatic songs and almost cliched scenes were the order of the day for most of the films then. Kashyap realised then that something needed to change as soon as possible.
Armed with a genre he treasured more than his life, Kashyap tried creating a splash with his first two movies. However, his grand entrance was disturbed and he managed to cause nothing more than a tiny ripple in the water. Despite the failure of his films, his dedication to the script was so strong, he went above and beyond to get the work done.
The work was hard and real
For Paanch and Black Friday, Kashyap would shoot on the streets at night to reduce location costs. For Gulaal, he really wanted particular shots that needed more money than he could afford at the point. Inspiration struck during Diwali when he saw the hoard of lights all over the streets of Jaipur. These films were about his early life (Paanch was a dedication to his life and struggles; Black Friday was about how he got sexually abused as a child, while Gulaal was about several turning points during his growth as a director.)
With That Girl In The Yellow Boots, he realised the amount of potential there was in the international market, while with films like Raman Raghav 2.0, Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2, he came to understand the the audience’s lack of appreciation towards the ordinary man’s struggle. From all the films Kashyap has made to date (the successes and the failures,) you cannot miss the very obvious presence of Kashyap in these films. Every movie is real, every story is dark, psychological affecting and haunting,
Every time I watch an Anurag Kashyap film, something stirs inside me. A little bit of happiness leaves every time I watch his films and I do not know if the feeling is that of happiness or sadness. This man has taught me life is hard and jagged, with stories at every corner and turn. If you have any Anurag Kashyap stories to share, comment and let us know!

Karan Johar announced his upcoming film Takht set to release in 2020. The film features a star studded cast that includes Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. Karan used Twitter to provide an insight into the story line.

Takht is labelled as a historical film which comes after the previous film Padmaavat, that was released earlier this year and caused a stir in the country.
Takht is a historical magnum opus about the Mughal Dynasty, a battle between brothers for the Mughal throne. The lead character is played by Ranveer Singh as Dara Shikoh and Vicky Kaushal as his brother, Aurangazeb. Kareena Kapoor will be starring as their sister Jahanara Begum and Alia Bhatt would be playing the lead love interest.
This film would be the third historical film for Ranveer Singh after Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani that were both blockbuster hits.
Karan Johar is well known for having a famed cast featured in his films, his previous hit Ae Dil Hai Mushkil featured Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Fawad Khan and Aishwarya Rai.
The cast members could not contain their excitement and went on to social media to talk about the film. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt took to Twitter to announce their latest project and Janhvi Kapoor announced it on Instagram.
It was further announced that the screenplay is by Sumit Roy and dialogues by Hussain Haidry and Sumit Roy. It is unexpected for Karan to acknowledge the writers as the “heartbeat and soul of a film.” As writers require more recognition in Bollywood. Varun Grover (lyricist) and Neeraj Ghaywan (director) have been lobbying for writers getting the recognition they deserve by producers for a long time.
The Screenplay is by SUMIT ROY! Dialogues by HUSSAIN HAIDRY,SUMIT ROY! And thanks to @NotSoSnob for bringing these talents to us at @DharmaMovies ! An exciting journey ahead….WRITERS are the heartbeat and soul of a film! These gentlemen lead all the way…. pic.twitter.com/hyTucBmKaG

Bhumi Pednekar shared her excitement regarding the magnum opus “It’s a great honour for me to be working such great actors and to be directed by a veteran. I am a very big Karan Johar fan ever since I was a child. So honestly, it’s very special feeling and it’s still sinking in. I am still dealing with it and I am just so nervous about the film.”
Farah Khan congratulated Karan Johar for the film via a tweet.

Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor: Match Made in Heaven
They have the kind of love that has not been talked about, but is made for the movie screens. The real life love story of Anil Kapoor and his beautiful wife, Sunita Kapoor.
The Mr. India actor had a rocky start in the Bollywood industry, despite his father Surinder Kapoor, being a Bollywood film producer. Anil Kapoor used to look for jobs during the day and his friends used to help him find love at night.
When he came across Sunita Kapoor, a model, he had no way of getting in contact with her. Eventually, he found her contact number and decided to talk to her.
Upon being asked about how they met Anil Kapoor said: “I met her on the telephone, and fell in love with her voice. I feel shy and awkward when I speak about her, but I love speaking about her. She is wonderful she is beautiful; she is the best thing that has happened to me.”
He added, “Then eventually after speaking to each other for a few weeks, I met her and we became friends.”
The relationship deepened when Sunita and Anil started dating, Sunita would even cancel her modelling photoshoots in order to spend more time with Anil Kapoor. Sunita was an established and successful model. She constantly helped Anil with his career.
It was a rocky road to the ‘happily ever after.’ The couple had to fight for their love. After struggling for a while they managed to convince their parents. The struggle was still not over for the couple they had one more hurdle to cross- the Bollywood industry.
Everybody in the industry advised Anil Kapoor not to marry as his career was at an all-time high after his hit film Mashal (1984), and the marriage would end his career as an actor. In his words, “In those days the industry believed that the audience liked an actor only until he was unmarried. My well-wishers thus advised me not to get married else my career would be ruined. But then I asked myself, what is more, important to me, my relationship with my girlfriend whom I know for years or my career? I was puzzled. But then it struck me that I am in a love with such a beautiful girl and we have been together since 5 years and stuck together through thick and thin, and so marriage was paramount for me that time.”
Despite the obstacles, Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor got married on 19 May, 1984.
They are proud parents of three children. Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, and Harshvardhan Kapoor. Sonam Kapoor has been “As children, we got very little family time as dad liked mom to accompany him whenever he travelled. But whenever we did, it was awesome. It feels lovely to see how much he loves her.”
Anil Kapoor was rumoured to be having an affair with his co-star, Madhuri Dixit after their chemistry on screen. Anil laughed out these rumours claiming they were a publicity stunt. “I got a lot of opportunities to fall in love and out of it, as I worked with many beautiful stars, but I thought to myself whether I wanted 2 minutes of joy or a lifetime of happiness. I am extremely happy with Sunita.”
Fairy tales are real after all.
