Mowgli, The Jungle Book a fable we have loved since time immemorial, is here with a brand new twist. Dark tales and twisted jungles turn this age old story into a myriad of heartbreaks and disappointments, turning Mowgli into an unfamiliar story.
Rohan Chand is Mowgli… Stars Matthew Rhys and Freida Pinto… Voice-overs of Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Naomie Harris and Andy Serkis… Poster + Trailer of #Mowgli… 19 Oct 2018 release… Trailer link: https://t.co/3jQPbbRXaS pic.twitter.com/8GF2YDdrt0

Warner Bros. just dropped the first trailer of the film and by the looks of things, the bare necessities of the story captivate and draw in an eager to please audience. From the direction of the very talented Andy Serkis, Mowgli tells the story of the struggles of real life. Watch the trailer here.
The two and a half minute trailer takes us through familiar jungles and territories, with a tale Rudyard Kipling told with easy familiarity. What the new trailer does, however, wants to remind you is there is more to life than what meets the eye. While Kipling’s Mowgli had a happy ending, Andy Serkis’s Mowgli tells us not all stories have a happy ending. The comedy free trailer launches with Mowgli imprisoned in a wooden cage. He is told by his friend Bagheera, voiced by Christian Bale, “When you were a cub, I looked you in the eye and saw no fear.” With trailer coming packed with impressive punch lines and a modern twist, Mowgli, The Jungle Book, seems to be a promising watch.
Much like the other Warner Bros., films Mowgli The Jungle Book has a formidable cast. With Freida Pinto and Rohan Chand in the leads roles, Christian Bale voices Bagheera, Benedict Cumberbatch plays Shere Khan and Cate Blanchett plays Kaa. This particular project was in the pipeline for over two years now and was initially called The Jungle Book. Unfortunately, in a move smoother than butter, Disney swooped in at the last minute and released a film with the same title. Warner Bros., is will release Mowgli on 19 October, 2018!
Luka Chuppi Song, Tu Laung Main Elaachi, Out Now
Tu Laung Main Elaachi, the fourth song from Luka Chuppi, just dropped. Looking at it, one can safely say, the trend of remaking songs isn’t dying anytime soon. With Kriti Sanon’s and Kartik Aaryan’s characters being the central focus, this song is set against the backdrop of their wedding.
The new song draws inspiration from a Punjabi song with a similar name (Laung Laachi,) and leaves you wanting for more. Sung by Mannat Noor, the original track is from a 2018 movie, Laung Laachi. Interestingly, the new version retains the lyrics from the original Punjabi song, which were written by Harmanjit. The music for the new version is composed by Tanishk Bagchi. Listen to the new version here!

The two and a half minute video of Tu Laung Main Elaachi sees Kartik’s and Kriti’s characters shaking their legs to the tunes of this Punjabi song during the rituals which follow their wedding. This new song is the fourth recreated song of the movie, with the earlier songs being Poster Lagwa Do, Coca Cola and Photo. In fact, according to the rumour mill, the makers are all set to release a fifth song, also a remake, called Duniya!
Telling the story of two people defying the society by living together before marriage, Luka Chuppi is directed by Laxman Utekar. Also starring Aparshakti Khurana and Pankaj Tripathi, this movie is produced by Dinesh Vijan. Scheduled to release on the 1st of March, Luka Chuppi is going to clash with the Bhumi Pednekar and Sushant Singh Rajput starrer, Sonchiraiya! With a story line like this, it is going to be truly interesting to see how Luka Chuppi does at the thearter!
Amitabh Bachchan – Best Movies Of The Superstar From The Last 50 Years
Amitabh Bachchan, the superstar, the King of Bollywood, the ultimate Badshah of Bollywood, finishes 50 years in the industry today! While the baritone voice is a familiar presence in the Country now, the Angry Young Man of Bollywood had an inspiring journey. Here is taking a look at Amitabh Bachchan’s journey in the world of Bollywood in the last 5 decades!
Zanjeer set the world of Bollywood onto a new path. While Amitabh Bachchan was already coming into his own before this film, Zanjeer gave the actor a new direction. When Amitabh Bachchan was introduced to the world of Bollywood, people had a new face to look at and admire. With the movie being all things amazing and Amitabh Bachchan being hailed as the next big thing, everyone was looking forward to something exciting. As a first movie, Zanjeer was the best thing which could happen to the Angry Young Man.
From the moment Zanjeer became the super hit film that it was destined to be, Amitabh Bachchan’s success kept growing. With Silsila, his presence in the world of Bollywood was further cemented through his brilliant acting skills. His scintillating chemistry with Rekha quite literally set the rumour mill on fire, giving people a fresh new pair to look forward to everyday! A movie which wasn’t just about love, Silsila redefined the way people looked at and dealt with different circumstances. With the characters being so carefully handled, the movie just made everyone stand up and take notice of not just Amitabh Bachchan, but of Rekha as well!
A movie which needs no introduction, Sholay was an Amitabh Bachchan classic film. A classic, Sholay was one of the highest grossing films released at the time and ranked first in the British Film Institute’s 2002 poll of “Top 10 Indian Films” of all time. A story about two criminals (Jeet and Veeru, played by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan,) who try to capture a criminal, Gabbar Singh, this movie more than earned its place in the hall of fame. While the film initially received negative reactions when it released, the reviews quickly picked up and people started falling in love with the characters and the attention to detail the film had. Sholay was a film like never before and was perhaps one of the best performances Amitabh gave so far!
The first and original Don, Amitabh Bachchan was a class act like no other actor. Playing a double role for the first time in his career, senior Bachchan ruled the roost with his acting skills in this movie! The third highest grossing movie when it released, this movie set the charts on fire because of how well Amitabh pulled his weight in both the roles in this movie. Classified as a golden jubilee hit by Box Office India, Don was an iconic movie in every sense of the word. The line, “Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, namumkin hai,” is still popular even today!
This film had a lot of expectations riding on Amitabh Bachchan. The title for this movie was taken from a poem written by Harshvardhan Rai Bachchan (Amitabh’s father) and the film also had an extremely talented cast (Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavi, Neelam Kothari, Rohini Hattangadi and Danny Denzongpa.) The poem written by Amitabh’s father was recited at the beginning of the film and just like Amitabh’s character, the poem gives shape to the central crux of this film as well. With Big B playing the character so well, Agneepath went on to become a major cult movie in years to come!
Telling the story of Piku Banerjee (played by Deepika Padukone) and her father (Amitabh Bachchan,) Piku saw Amitabh Bachchan acing the character. From praising the characterisation, to loving the plot, critics and fans alike loved the movie so much, it became an instant hit the moment it released! While both Deepika Padukone and Irfan Khan added a certain impact to the movie, it was Amitabh Bachchan’s perfect portrayal of a cranky old man which added the much needed gravitas to Piku. Definitely one of Amitabh’s best performances in the recent past!
While Amitabh Bachchan was known for playing certain roles during the earlier part of his career, he grew to play different types of characters in the future years. From changing the way people saw him in cinema, to creating a positive image for himself, Amitabh Bachchan has quite literally carved a throne for himself in the world of Bollywood. Here’s looking forward to more amazing films from the Badshah of Bollywood in the coming 50 years!
Remembering Madhubala, The Real Life Anarkali, On Her 86th Birth Anniversary
Madhubala, a real life Anarkali, led as tragic a life as her famous character, Anarkali. She had beauty, money, fame and grace. She was loved, with a massive fan following. However, while the face smiled and the eyes twinkled, the sadness behind the smile was a fact not many saw. Born to Ataullah Khan, Madhubala had a very hard life in her early years.
When her father lost her job at a tobacco factory, he realised the only way to make ends meet was by signing Madhubala into the world of films. At the young age of 9, Madhubala made her foray into the world of Bollywood with the film Basant, in 1942. Madhubala’s life quite literally changed the moment she entered the film industry. Despite being only 9 years old, being exposed to the world of films and cinema helped her realise there was more to life than she thought existed. Everything she knew started to change and this young child evolved into a better version of herself.
By the time Madhubala was 16, she had more than made her presence felt in the Bollywood world. Her demure looks, coy movements and budding acting skills were becoming synonymous with a new face in the industry. However, despite being known for her skills and beauty, her failing health was suddenly being noticed. The first public display of ill health was when she puked blood for the first time (allegedly,) during the shooting of Bahut Din Huwe in 1954.
The next public sign of ill health was when she fainted while shooting with Raj Kapoor for the 1957 film Chalack. While this film never saw the light of day, it shined light on the fact that Madhubala was seriously ill. Soon after, it was revealed that the actress had a condition, ventricular septal defect, commonly called “a hole in the heart.” With no medical treatment available for the disease at the time, the actress’s health started deteriorating slowly, but surely.
To make matters worse, the actress was struggling to keep herself rooted in terms of the professional world. A fighter for love and perfectionism to the very end, Madhubala made sure that no matter what, she always stuck through with her commitments. While both the love stories of her life (with Dilip Kumar and Kishore Kumar) ended in a disastrous manner, Madhubala never really let the despair of being alone show in public. Despite her love for Dilip Kumar being so strong, the engagement ended on a bitter note. According to the rumour mill, her father was dead against their marriage. However, even when she got over the heartache of losing Dilip Kumar with her marriage to Kishore Kumar, destiny had other plans. Her illness drove a wedge between the young couple and as her health worsened, Kishore Kumar left her to quite literally take care of herself.
Despite being loved by an entire Country of people, Madhubala spent the last few months of her life alone and depressed. Although she completed all the projects she had signed in the ten years it took for the completion of Mughal E Azam, Madhubala was largely left to tend to herself. For an actress born on the day of love, it is quite a tragedy to see that she literally received no love from the people around her. From the moment she was 9 to the very last days of her life, Madhubala’s life was filled with more pain, tragedy and sorrow with which anyone could hope to live.
On the actress’s 86th birth anniversary, it only makes sense that one takes a look at her life and life history. On this note, I am turning on the radio and listening to all my favourite Madhubala tunes and I think, there is really no other way to pay a better memory to her.
Gully Boy Review And First Day Box Office Collections
Cast: Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz, Vijay Varma, Kalki Koechlin, Amruta Subhash and Sheeba Chaddha
Director: Zoya Akhtar
The film starts off with a depiction of how Murad (Ranveer Singh) lives. A house the size of a matchbox in a Mumbai chawl is his home. Accommodating a cast aside mother (played by Amruta Subhash,) a grandmother, an abusive father and a new stepmother not older than him, Murad dreams of rapping his way out of the drudgery. The only ray of hope in his life is Safeena (Alia Bhatt,) a live wire and quirky character who pushes Murad to achieve his dreams, no matter what. Kalki plays the role of a music scholar who has just returned from the United States. MC Sher (played by Siddhant Chaturvedi) takes Murad under his wing and shows him the tricks of the trade. As a specialist in music, Kalki’s character is instantly drawn to the oozing talents displayed by Murad.
Centering around Murad, Gully Boy tells the story of how a rapper tries to break free of the drudgery and poverty in which he grew up, through rap. While he struggles to make it to the coveted list of the top ten rappers, Murad’s family and friends help in making his dreams come true. Gully Boy tells the story of how an ordinary man becomes the extraordinary Murad through sheer determination and hard work. While rap is still considered extremely unconventional and is not an appreciated music form in India even now, this Zoya Akhtar directorial quite literally tells the story of a man’s journey from rags to riches. Siddhant Chaturvedi’s amazing acting skills as MC Sher have definitely put him on the map of actors for whom to look out .
While parts of Gully Boy may seem slightly familiar (Eminem’s 8 Miles comes to mind,) the overall directorial is nearly flawless. Zoya Akhtar has understood the strengths of all the leads perfectly and used them to her advantage. The dark side of Mumbai is not a side most people are comfortable accepting. However, with finesse and attention to detail, Akhtar manages to capture every alley and every nook without making it seem over the top and unreal.
The power packed performances by Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are what make this movie so amazing. Based on the story of Mumbai rappers Divine and Naezy, Gully Boy tells an extremely real and hard hitting story. The presence of the original rappers in various scenes of the movie, along with lyrics written by them, adds a sense of gravitas and authenticity to the film. The rap battles are riveting and the script is written so well, there are almost no loopholes through the movie.
With no major drawbacks to this film, Gully Boy is an all out entertainer. One of the only things which doesn’t work for this is that there isn’t enough of Kalki’s character on screen. If there was, the fight for the different sides would have been a little more interesting. All in all, with Zoya Akhtar’s brilliant directorial skills and amazing performances by all the actors, Gully Boy is worth more than just a one time watch!

Ranveer Singh’s Best Box Office Hits
Just a day before Gully Boy, Ranveer Singh’s highly anticipated film, hits the screens, it only stands fit to take a look at his previous hits. While Alia Bhatt and the other cast have performed just as well, Ranveer Singh’s character so far seems to be stealing the show! Here’s taking a look at some of his best box office performers before the movie hits the screens tomorrow!
Padmaavat, initially titled Padmavati, was one of Ranveer Singh’s best performances to date. Playing the role of a king (Alauddin Khilji) obsessed with Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh goes above and beyond with his superb acting skills. It isn’t just us who thinks this. The box office records flat out prove this fact, with Padmaavat raking in a massive income to the tune of Rs. 302.15 crores!
Unlike Padmaavat, Simmba was an out and out entertainer. A Rohit Shetty directorial, this film saw Ranveer Singh shine bright like a diamond, in the role of a cop. Ranked among the top ten highest grossest opening films and also marking Rohit Shetty’s 8th time in the 100 crore club, Simmba was a Ranveer Singh film all the way through. Breaking more than one record at the box office, this film cemented Ranveer Singh in the field of the era of top ten actors! Simmba went on to earn a whopping Rs. 240.2 crores at the box office post its release!
3. Bajirao Mastani
With Sanjay Leela Bhansali directing this periodic drama and Ranveer Singh playing the role of the Maratha warrior Bajirao, one can’t but expect this film to be brilliant. A commercial and critical success in every way possible, it is now extremely hard to imagine anyone else playing the role of Bajirao the way Ranveer Singh did! Earning Rs. 184.2 crores at the box office, this was perhaps one of the most captivating performances given by Ranveer Singh.
4. Ladies Versus Ricky Bahl
An adaption of John Tucker Must Die, Ladies Versus Ricky Bahl sees the original Ranveer Singh come alive. Playing the ultimate con man gone good, Singh perform this role to perfection. Can’t imagine anyone else playing this role, right? Neither can we! While the film didn’t do extraordinarily well on the first day, Ladies Versus Ricky Bahl still earned more than expected with its collection of Rs. 80 crores.
5. Dil Dhadakne Do
A movie about an heir trying to figure out his way in life through all the money and drama, Dil Dhadakne Do sees Ranveer Singh in one of his most sober roles yet. Opening to a collection of Rs. 10.53 crores, the film went on to do really well at the box office with a final collection of Rs. 76.88 crores! Not bad at all.
6. Band Baaja Baaraat
Band Baaja Baaraat, Ranveer Singh’s foray into the world of Bollywood, saw the actor break all records right away. From the very moment he starts jumping, dancing and acting on the screen, there was absolutely no shadow of a doubt that Singh was a star in the making. Running a little shy of entering the coveted 100 crores club (by earning Rs. 96 crores,) this movie was a Ranveer Singh masterpiece all the way through!
With Gully Boy all set to release tomorrow, one can’t wait to see how the movie is going to turn out. If you think we missed out on some other successes by the superstar, comment and let us know!
