Chavanprash, the first song from Harshvardhan Kapoor’s first mainstream film, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, just released and it is completely in tune with the quirky side of the film! Featuring Arjun Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor for the first time ever, this song brings to the fore of what one can expect from Bhavesh Joshi Superhero as a film.
A peppy dance number featuring a brand new pair, Chavanprash has lyrics composed by lyricist, Amit Trivedi. Bhavesh Joshi Superhero marks Harshvardhan Kapoor’s second entry into the world of Bollywood. Listen to the song here: https://erosnow.com/music/watch/1063267/bhavesh-joshi-superhero/6871453/exclusive—chavanprash-ft.-arjun-kapoor-&-harshvardhan-kapoor
Co produced by Eros International, Anurag Kashyap, Reliance Entertainment, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero sees Harshvardhan Kapoor in a brand new avatar. Playing the role of Mirzya, the anti hero, the film sees Harshvardhan fight against corruption as the common man turns Superhero in this vigilante drama. With heavy influences from DC and Marvel, this film reminds one of a modern day Robinhood.
The trailer for the film dropped a couple of days ago and it is just as entertaining as the makers promised. With Harshvardhan Kapoor proving his worth as a star, it stands to see how the film does post its release. With some hard hitting dialogues and an action packed first song, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero is scheduled to hit the screens on 25 May, 2018.
Kishore Kumar And A Memory That Lives Through Music
Kishore Kumar lef the world on 13th October 1987, marking it as a sad day in the history of Bollywood and music. A day that took away one of the most enigmatic and beautiful singers, 13th October was labelled as the end of an era. When Kishore Kumar passed away, India lost a true gem, making fans all over realise that if music had a name, the name would be Kishore Da. Known for his voice filled with feelings, it is only befitting that one pays tribute to this great man through the melodious music he left behind. As I sit back on this nostalgic Sunday and think of the loss of a singer who touched not only his generation, but several ones after, I would like to leave you with these songs.
1. Yeh Shaam Mastani (Kati Patang, 1971)
Yeah, today’s evening is going to be a beautiful one, but really, remembering the death of this great man is going to put a damper on a beautiful Sunday. If only Kishore Da were still alive, every evening would be a wonderful and memorable one, with new songs and melodies to keep the bad dreams at bay!
2. Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si (Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, 1958)
Hands down one of the most amazing songs by Kishore Kumar, this song has been playing on my mind since the time I woke up this morning! Perhaps the best kind of tribute one can play to Kishore Kumar, either on a rainy day or a sunny day!
3. Dil Kya Kare (Julie, 1975)
Seriously, Dil Kya Kare when you lose someone who has been such an indirect and close part of your life? Nothing more than listen to Kishore Kumar’s music, right? On a side note, every time I break up with a dude (happens more number of times than you can think of,) this song is my go to heart fixer!
4. Maana Janab Ne Pukara Nahin (Paying Guest, 1975)
This song is feels personified. With Kishore Da in his complete element in Maana Janab Ne Pukara Nahin is a Kishore Da song through and through. The song is a perfect description of love that is not entirely two sided and is perhaps the most beautiful ode to being okay with the bad situations as any!
5. Roop Tera Mastana (Aradhana, 1975)
How many times a day have you listened to this song and hummed it over and over? Come on, you know you love this song as much as we do! Do not cat call pretty girls with this song. Bad idea! You’ll land up in prison and that is never good for anyone, right?
6. Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (Blackmail, 1973)
Kishore Da, you may have left the world, but you are always going to be close to our heart. No matter what. Even more so through this song. P.S., if you were ever in the need of a quick fix with the love of your life, this song is the ultimate problem fixer! Trust me, a lot of people I know have used it and it has worked wonders every single time.
7. Mere Sapno Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu (Aradhana, 1969)
Putting into words what every man wants, this song is the perfect ode to finding true love and happily ever afters. Interestingly, in recent times, the songs from Dilwale Dulhaniye Le Jayenge are the only ones that comes close to this beauty! However, Kishore Kumar is the true original genius when it comes to romantic music, right?
As the country mourns the death of a man who would have been 80 if fate had not ended his life early, I am going to kick back, relax and play these songs all day with a cup of hot, strong tea! What is your favourite Kishore Kumar song? Comment and let us know!
Bollywood Films Where The Music Stole The Show
Every time we watch a film, there are certain elements from the movie which leave a lasting mark. From the music to the background effects to the script, everything comes together in a manner which could either break or make the movie. While some movies became an instant hit purely because of the actors or the script, others have become famous for their amazing songs and background scores. Today, we take a look at how the Piper sang and drew people to the theaters not in singles, but in massive numbers!
1. Mughal E Azam
A period drama showing the much talked about love between Saleem and Anarkali, what made this movie so great was not just the movie, but the background score and music as well! More than 50 years after its release, the songs from Mughal E Azam are always at the back of our minds. From songs about proving your love (Jab Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya) to songs about eternal hope (Shubh Din Ayo,) all the songs were perhaps some of the best Bollywood could offer. Listen to Jab Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya here.
2. Umrao Jaan
While Umrao Jaan tells the story of a girl sold to a brothel for revenge, what makes the film so remarkably beautiful is the songs. Exploring different sides of love, heartbreak and pain in a manner like never before, songs like Dil Cheez Kya Hai and In Aankhon Ki Masti Main address exactly how one feels during heartbreaking times. For those who would like to know, the mujra Rekha performs during In Aankhon Ki Masti Main still gives everyone electrifying goosebumps! Listen to the song here!
An epic movie in the sense that it had Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Jaya Bachchan in the lead roles, the film broke all records when it released. However, what made this movie so great is it had some of the best songs of the time. In fact, even before the film hit the screens, the title track of Silsila instantly stuck in the minds of the listeners. With lyrics that calmed your aching soul and music that made even the tone deaf sit up and listen, the title track was the perfect balm to cold hearts. If you do not know what I am talking about, then you absolutely have to listen to it here and now!
4. Muqaddar Ka Sikandar
The entire album from this movie has been named as perhaps the best music album in the Bollywood world at the time. While the movie in itself was really good, the songs were the perfectly delicious cherry on the top. While the title track was beautiful, to say the least, it was the song Salaam E Ishq that put Muqaddar Ka Sikandar on the map of great films! Listen to the song here!
5. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Who can say no to a love story revolving around Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol? While the story had everything you would want (family drama, the stoic father and the rich brat with no real future,) what really drew everyone to the theaters in numbers even years after the release was the wonderful music. With both Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar giving their voice to this beautiful film, songs like Mehendi Laga Ke Rakhna and Tujhe Dekha Toh Ye Jaana Sanam are still among our top ten favourite songs list! Listen to Tujhe Dekha Toh Ye Jaana Sanam here!
While the script for this particular Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan film was slightly contrived, what made the film better was the amazing music. An all time favourite song from this overly dramatic movie was Boro Boro because it was sung by the eternally famous Arash! Starring Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles, this song was the main reason for the film to become a success! Listen to the song here!
7. Rock On
Rock On, as a movie was amazing on its own, there is absolutely no denying the fact. However, what made Rock On so much better was the brilliant music. What came as an added bonus was this film was perhaps the first time Farhan Akhtar sang a song himself! A movie about exploring oneself, growing in and out of friendships and realising music was the characters’ first true love, Rock On still gives viewers goosebumps every time they watch the movie! Listen to Sinbad the Sailor here!
8. Band Baaja Baaraat
While Band Baaja Baaraat was known for marking the Bollywood debut of Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh, not many know it also marked the debut of international singer, Natalia Di Luccio. An Italian Canadian singer famous for her YouTube channel, Natalia’s voice was so strong in this film that she gave her voice to not one, but ten films after! Listen to the song here.

Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi Finally Has A New Teaser. Watch Now!
After a lot of delays and controversies, the makers of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi finally dropped a brand new teaser. Despite the drama and all the negativity surrounding the film, everything about this movie has been exciting, to say the least.
Powerful and packed with sentiment, the teaser shows us what really made the Rani of Jhansi such a formidable and tenacious woman. The teaser starts off with a voice over by Amitabh Bachchan, who talks about how India was a flowering and thriving nation (one of the major reasons why the British thought conquering this country was such an important achievement.)
POWERFUL… BRILLIANT… Teaser of #Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi… Stars Kangna Ranaut… Directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi… 25 Jan 2019 release… #RepublicDayWeekend… #ManikarnikaTeaser: https://t.co/dsgUnAB58n pic.twitter.com/toYaBjd3Ya
— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) October 2, 2018
Looking at the quick and fast arrival of the British into India, Manikarnika realises the time has now come to fight against the oppressive rule of the foreigners. The teaser gives us a peek into the majestic sets, the strong characters and the fight sequences in the film. What makes this teaser so much more exciting is a shot of Manikarnika on the throne with her infant baby.
“I am proud of this film and of portraying a character who empowers and inspires. We have put in our heart, blood and sweat into making this film. Manikarnika will make every Indian proud,” Kangana had said while previously talking about the film.
It was previously rumoured that Kangana would be co directing the film as well as starring in the movie. However, with the release of the teaser, the Manikarnika team confirmed she was not directing the movie, but only playing the lead. Directed by Krish, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi stars Jishu Sengupta, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongappa, Atul Kulkarni, Ankita Lokhande and Zeeshan Ayub in lead roles! The film is scheduled to hit the screens next year.
Uri: The Surgical Strike Teaser Is Out! Watch It Now!
There are some events so heartbreaking and earth shattering, they have to be retold in the form of films. Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal’s next film tells a story that quite literally shook the world. Based on the blasts which killed 19 Indian soldiers in one of the worst attacks in history, this film tells the story of lives lost and revenge sought.
Keeping us on tenterhooks ever since the film was announced, the makers upped the excitement quotient by dropping a brand new teaser. Right from the beginning, one is given a direct view of what soldiers of the Indian Army go through on a regular basis.
The teaser gives us a sneak peek into the blasts which took place on 18th September, 2016. In retaliation, the Indian Army Special Forces carried out a series of surgical strikes against the terrorists (for the first time in war history, according to the teaser.) The very short teaser introduces us to the character of Vicky Kaushal. Watch the action packed teaser here!
A defining moment in India’s military history. A moment that paved a path to a new, stronger India. Here’s presenting, #URITeaser : https://t.co/rA3qoRgjFh @yamigautam #AdityaDhar @RonnieScrewvala @RSVPMovies
— Vicky Kaushal (@vickykaushal09) September 28, 2018
Sleek action, sharp focus and a keen eye for precision are what make this teaser so exciting. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri: The Surgical Strike brings to the fore everything that went on in the eleven days’ long surgical strike.
While talking about Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky had earlier said, “When this film came to me and we had this discussion. (sic) I was really thrilled and kicked about it because this is one story that I feel that everyone needs to know. One of the fantastic army operations that the Indian army has conducted and with great efficiency. I also feel it is a great opportunity and also a responsibility for all of us to portray this story.” The film is scheduled to hit the screens on 11th January, 2019!
Thugs Of Hindostan Trailer Is Out And Is Brilliant!
Thugs of Hindostan, Aamir Khan’s and Amitabh Bachchan’s first film together, just dropped its highly anticipated trailer and it is truly brilliant. From the looks of the trailer, it promises to be extremely exciting, if I may say so myself.
Set in the year 1795, the trailer maps the journey of how the East India Company entered India and moved on to become a dictator (rather than just being a trader.) The three minutes, 33 seconds long trailer shows how Indians all over the country are coming together to fight against the oppressive British rulers. Watch the trailer here!
Action. Adventure. Drama. Get ready to watch it all on the big screen! #ThugsOfHindostanTrailer OUT NOW – https://t.co/UzXufVOrD7#ThugsOfHindostan | @SrBachchan | @aamir_khan | #KatrinaKaif | @fattysanashaikh | #VijayKrishnaAcharya | @TOHTheFilm pic.twitter.com/129J67d247
— Yash Raj Films (@yrf) September 27, 2018
The trailer introduces us to the many characters that play a crucial role in the movie. Amitabh Bachchan (Azaad) is a determined patriot who wants to free his country at any cost. However, the road to freedom is not as easy as Azaad thinks! Enter Aamir Khan (Firangi,) the character who tries to stop Azaad from doing something truly dangerous and life harming. Going through the trailer, one sees how Firangi finally understands what Azaad is trying to do and sides with him to save the country he loves. Despite the trailer showing Firangi partnering with Azaad, the line “Ab hume Azaad ke saath rehna hai, Azaad banna hai,” makes one wonder if Firangi is truly on Azaad’s side or if it is all part of a larger game.
Not only is the trailer a first of many, many introductions, it also was released on a memorable day (Yash Raj’s birth anniversary.) Despite keeping us all on tenterhooks for the trailer, one can definitely say it was worth the wait! Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, this film is an adaptation of the 1839 novel, Confessions of a Thug! Apart from Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, the movie also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh in key roles. Thugs of Hindostan is going to be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu and is scheduled to hit the screens on 8th November, 2018.
