Daas Dev Cast: Rahul Bhat, Richa Chadda, Aditi Rao Hydari, Saurabh Shukla, Vipin Sharma, Vineet Kumar Singh
Daas Dev Director: Sudhir Mishra
Daas Dev mango Bollywood rating: 3.5 on 5 stars

Daas Dev, the modern retelling of Sarat Chandra Chatterjee’s epic, Devdas, about on the brooding lover who takes to the bottle with an unwavering passion for self destruction, is anything but that! The only thing which is similar to the classic novel is the political scene during the time of the original book. This Sudhir Mishra film is a culmination of the original Devdas and Hamlet, two much loved classics merged into one brilliantly made film!

The doomed love story of Devdas gets a vigorous contemporary spin. It is not quite as downbeat as the much filmed original. Coupled with the tragic revenge saga of Hamlet, Daas Dev winds up in a shadowy political household where intrigue and conspiracy lurk in every shady nook. Going by the book, there’s a Dev (Rahul Bhat,) a Paro (Richa Chadda) and a very politically inclined Chandramukhi (Aditi Rao Hydari) who uses her beauty as a tool for gain!

Mishra used his leads to their complete potential, with Aditi Rao Hydari and Richa Chaddha bringing their A game to the table. Even Rahul Bhat brings a whole new take to the Dev to whom we have all gotten habituated. A political heir, Dev is perennially inebriated until he’s forced to sober up and take over from his politician uncle (Saurabh Shukla.) Paro, a social reformer of sorts, urges Dev to take up “real issues”. However, when he digs in, a can of worms is exposed — a relation who betrayed him, a clandestine affair comes to light and amidst all this, a Prakash Jha like twist is realised when Paro gets hitched with the political head of the opposition party (Vipin Sharma.)

If this isn’t reason enough to watch this political thriller, then the songs, the cinematography and the brilliant direction should make up for the plot! While the film does have its plus points, the flaws lie in the multiple layers and the unnecessary innuendoes seen throughout. One of the glaring flaws of the film lies in the fact though Aditi Rao Hydari plays the role of Chandini perfectly, her character is pushed aside as the multiple sub plots start to unfold.

Although Mishra has had a varying stint in the industry as a director, Daas Dev brings him back to the ranks as a force to be reckoned. It isn’t solely by separating Dev and Daas in the title and changing the established sequence that Mishra flips the gender balance around. The women in Daas Dev are no pushovers. They are strong willed, assertive individuals who can stare down anybody who looks them in the eye in the misplaced hope of browbeating them into submission. A must watch for those who are looking at gender roles in a new light!

Kedarnath New Song Qaafirana Released, Qaafirana song from Kedarnath out, Kedarnath song Qaafirana Review, Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput Qaafirana song, Kedarnath Movie Latest News and Updates, Mango Bollywood, Sara Ali Khan Kedarnath Film Updates, Sushant Singh Rajput Upcoming Movie Updates

Kedarnath just became a lot more exciting with the release of its latest song, Qaafirana and unlike the other two songs, this one shows the evolving of a truly beautiful relationship between the characters of Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan. Picturised entirely in the village of Uttarakhand, this new song shows how the relationship between the two leads evolves and how they grow closer to each other through each passing day.

Sung by Arijit Singh and Nikita Gandhi, this new song is all about emotions and how you express those emotions. With music by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Qaafirana has a mesmerizing and beautiful feeling to it. Listen to the song here!

While Sara Ali Khan’s expressions in this song are to die for, Sushant Singh Rajput steals the show with his flawlessly brilliant performance. One of the most intriguing things about this song is how the makers have shown love evolve, grow and develop even through all the ups and downs. Furthermore, as this is Sara Ali Khan’s debut film, it truly is quite interesting to see the different stages of her character evolve with each song.

The first song, Namo Namo, was a devotional number. The second song, Sweetheart, received an amazing response when it released. The trailer of Kedarnath set the ball rolling for what promises to be a really beautiful movie and with Abhishek Kapoor as the director, one can really expect quite a lot from this particular movie.

However, despite all the good things going for it, this Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput starrer saw its fair share of ups and downs and after a lot of delays, the film finally has a release date. Kedarnath is scheduled to hit the screens on the 7th of December this year, so don’t forget to watch it!

Sushmita Sen, a role model to many and a supermom to her children, turns a day older today and even at 43, she is one of the most beautiful women in the industry! Sushmita Sen, who was last seen in Nirbaak (2015,) has some truly brilliant movies to her name. On the occasion of her birthday, here’s taking a look at some of the most amazing performances the gorgeous lady has done in the past!

1. Chingari

Directed by Kalpana Lajmi and based on Bhupen Hazarika’s novel The Prostitute and the Postman, Chingari was a memorable film. Remembered for the direction and the narrative style, Sushmita Sen’s performance as an exploited and abused sex worker was extremely memorable. What made this film so heart wrenching and true was the effective portrayal of how a man in a religious position can take advantage of people (especially women,) without being held accountable for his actions.

2. Biwi No.1

Directed by David Dhawan, Biwi No. 1 showed Sushmita Sen in a completely different light. A contrast to her role in Chingari, this particular film saw Sen playing the role of a supermodel! What made this movie stick so well with the audience was that people got to see a completely different side of Sen as compared to her previous films. Also featuring Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Karishma Kapoor in key roles, Biwi No.1 did really well at the box office and went so far as to help Sushmita Sen win the Filmfare Award for her brilliant performance.

3. Samay

An action thriller loosely based on Morgan Freeman’s Seven, Samay was one of the finest thriller films Bollywood saw. What makes this movie so much more special was that unlike the other romantic thrillers releasing around the time, there were no romantic tracks in this film. Furthermore, Sen completely stole the show by being the only lead! Things like this were a rarity in the industry and Sen created a wave of change in the industry.

4. Sirf Tum

Sirf Tum was one of the first films which gave Sushmita Sen major commercial success at the box office. A romantic drama at its roots, this movie saw Sen play the female lead to perfection. A remake of Ajith Kumar’s blockbuster of a movie, Kadhal Kottai, this Boney Kapoor production was one of the biggest box office successes when it released. With Sanjay Kumar and Salman Khan playing the male leads, Sen’s performance was so good, she was nominated for a Filmfare Award as well!

5. Filhaal

Another milestone in Sushmita Sen’s illustrious career, Filhaal saw Sen play an important role in a film which centered around the issue of surrogacy. Even though the movie had Tabu playing the other female lead, it didn’t stop Sen from shining bright like a diamond! Although this particular movie earned a lot of critical acclaim, its box office success was quite limited.

Sweetheart The Next Song From Kedarnath Is Here, Kedarnath Movie New Song, Sara Ali Khan Sushant Singh Rajput Sweetheart, Kedarnath song Sweetheart Review, Sushant Sara New Wedding Song, Kedarnath Movie Latest News and Updates, Sara Ali Khan Debut Movie Latest News, Sushant Singh Rajput Upcoming Movie Latest News, Latest Hindi Songs 2018 Review, Mango Bollywood

Sweetheart, the second song from Kedarnath, just released and it is truly beautiful. Just like the recently released trailer, this song gives one an insight into the different scenes from the movie, giving an idea of what to expect from Sara Ali Khan’s and Sushant Singh Rajput’s next film.

Unlike the first song, Namo Namo (a devotional track,) this new song is all about fun, frolic and dancing. Filmed on the sets of a wedding, this song sees both Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput putting their best foot forward and dancing like there’s no tomorrow. Listen to Sweetheart here!

Written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, sung by Devi Negi and lyrics by Amit Trivedi, this new song seems to have been picturised around Rajput’s sister’s wedding. Bright colours and peppy music make for the central crux of this particular song. With sharp features, Sara Ali Khan very closely resembles her mother Amrita Singh, while Sushant Singh Rajput seems completely at home!

Sara Ali Khan is making her grand Bollywood debut through Kedarnath and by the looks of all the teasers, trailers and the two songs, the movie is definitely going to be worth the wait. A love story set against the backdrop of the devastating Uttarakhand floods of 2013, Kedarnath seems to be quite a promising watch.

Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Kedarnath was initially scheduled to hit the screens in June this year. However, the movie has now been shifted to hit the screens on the 7th of December this year. Stay tuned for more updates about Kedarnath!

Pihu Review And First Day Box Office Expectations

Published

featured, Latest Hindi Movies 2018 Box Office Collections, Mango Bollywood, Pihu Bollywood Movie Response, Pihu First Day Collections, Pihu Hindi Movie Latest News and Updates, Pihu Movie Box Office Collection Reports, Pihu Movie Public Talk, Pihu Movie Review, Pihu Movie Story, Pihu Review And First Day Box Office Expectations, Pihu Review and Rating

Director: Vinod Kapri

Cast: Myra Vishwakarma

Story

The story of Pihu is based on the life of a two year old girl (Pihu,) trapped alone in a house and what happens when there are no adults around. The entire film centers around this little girl and shows us how the 2 year old survives on her own for the entire day without being connected to the rest of the world. With montages of a birthday party (Pihu’s birthday,) a cake and people chatting, the opening scene quickly dissolves into a serious one.

Pihu wakes up in the morning next to her mother, who is dead. With no father around and no adult in the house, the film immediately shifts to a scary story. With Pihu playing the lead, one gets a glimpse of what to expect from the movie. Navigating through the house, one sees how everything is unkempt, how every ordinary gadget is now a safety hazard.Kapri takes you through the different parts of the house, showing the disarray and the severe state of dysfunction of not just the house, but the family as well.

Review

Right from the very first scene of the movie, one can see the movie is going to be fraught with tension and uncertainty. Everything in the house is a threat to this two year old girl and unfortunately, she has absolutely no access to the world outside. As a director, Kapri sets the scene right from the opening credits, with dialogues from the movie running over caricatures and childlike drawings.

A couple of years ago, Kapri’s first directorial, Trapped, showed the struggles of an adult trapped all by himself in a house for 24 hours. Pihu seems to follow a similar story line, without the drama and over the top action scenes. Using a two year old to bring to life a parent’s worst nightmare, Kapri brings to the fore everything parents do not want happening.

Although the movie is said to be based on a true incident, the film seems very similar to Kapri’s first directorial.  Drawing parallels from the  theme of Trapped. the underlying message talks about what happens when you are left alone for longer than you thought you should be left alone. While the attempt at making a film like this was commendable, Pihu would have worked better as a short film rather than a full fledged movie.

Kapri’s thriller has everything you could want from a perfect thriller. However, it lacks the special touch required to make it a truly brilliant movie. Myra Vishwakarma does a brilliant job as the two year old Pihu, with the camera work adding the right kind of effects. Watch the movie to find out what happens when a child is alone and helpless.
