Kajol’s Journey From Bekhudi To Helicopter Eela
Kajol, perhaps the most iconic actress in Bollywood, has grown a lot from her first film in the industry. With a skin tone that wasn’t part and parcel of Bollywood and a proud unibrow, Kajol made her presence felt because she was different. With the release of her recent film, Helicopter Eela, it stands to see how the actress has grown from her very first film to now.
Kajol made her debut with this supremely romantic film with another new face, Kamal Sadanah. Directed and produced by Maharukh Jokhi and Rita Rawail, this movie didn’t do as well as expected. However, despite the story not getting the recognition the actors and the team wanted, Kajol certainly did. Bekhudi put Kajol on the map of aspiring newbies in Bollywood, making the directors take notice of this interesting newcomer.
Kajol more than made up for the abysmal performance of Bekhudi with her next film, Baazigar. Leaving no stone unturned to ensure the success of this particular movie, everyone was pleasantly surprised to watch Kajol play the protagonist. The cherry on top of this already delicious cake was the brilliant climax, an ending which left everyone wanting for more.
3. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
One of the longest running and extremely memorable love stories ever made, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge brought to the fore what a well done romantic film can do to one. With Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) and Kajol playing the main roles, this film taught all the 90s kids that if you ever wanted to experience eternal love, then this movie is feels all the way. Even after all these years, fans are still curious about what happened to Kajol’s and SRK’s characters after the movie ended.
Kajol proved herself as a leading lady and a force to be reckoned with in this particular film. Playing a double role for the first time in her blooming career, the lady bowled over the audience with her stupendous acting in this stupendous movie. Incidentally, this was also the first time she starred opposite Saif Ali Khan!
When Kajol starred in Gupt, she surprised everyone by deviating from her usual style of films by playing a negative role for the first time in her career. Playing the role of an obsessive and psychopathic lover, Kajol made a splash with her brilliant performance in this movie. So great was her acting in this movie, she received the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role.
6. Pyaar Toh Hota Hi Hai
What makes this particular movie so memorable is not the story, but the lead actors. Kajol and Ajay Devgn were paired together for the first time and before anyone could say “blink,” the two were married! Sticking to the theme of their first movie, Ajay Devgn and Kajol surprised everyone with a beautiful ceremony. A film for the ages, this one! 20 years later, the pair is still one of the most adorable couples in Bollywood.
7. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
While Kajol made memorable appearances with other major stars before, it was the pairing of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol together that people craved for the most. When Karan Johar made his debut as a director with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he picked just the right leads with Kajol and SRK. Revisiting the concept of love triangles with a new twist, this film showed the beautiful chemistry between two of the country’s favourite actors.
8. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
This movie saw the transition of Kajol’s character from a girl in love to a girl fighting for her love despite all odds. Brimming with family drama and slightly over the top emotions, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham saw an interesting range of characters. Kajol added her own spark to the movie, transitioning really well between perfectly timed comic scenes and mellow lines. Of course, an added bonus to this movie? It had SRK and Kajol playing a married couple!
While it’s not easy for many to play the role of a blind girl hopelessly in love, Kajol proved everyone wrong by doing just that and by playing the role really well. Perhaps one of her best performances till that point, this movie propelled Kajol to the front line of being one of the best actresses in the industry.
10. My Name Is Khan
With My Name Is Khan, people saw a new side to Kajol. Starring opposite SRK yet again, Kajol had the difficult task of convincing people SRK’s character wasn’t a terrorist. Riveting and interesting, this particular movie saw not only Kajol, but SRK in a new light as well.
Jumping a couple of hoops and years down the line, Dilwale saw the reunion of the iconic pair of SRK and Kajol. With references to the past and a love story which built through controversies, this movie was a trip down memory lane for sure! A fitting ode to the pair which gave Bollywood fans all over love, life and marriage goals, right?
12. Helicopter Eela
Playing the role of a hovering and over protective mother who wants to take back everything from life she lost while raising her son, Helicopter Eela saw Kajol breaking stereotypes yet again. Bordering between normal and slightly over the top characteristics, Kajol blew everyone’s skirts up with her performance in this movie.
With an impressive career, a closet full of astounding awards and known for being one of the few actresses in the industry to have worked with all the three Khans, Kajol is intimidatingly inspiring. What’s your favourite Kajol movie? Comment and let us know!
Kangana Ranaut’s Journey In Bollywood: From Then To Now
Kangana Ranaut, an actress who rose from the dust of controversies, became a force to be reckoned with when she showed her competition she can stand alone despite the muck thrown at her. When she was discovered at a coffee shop by Vikas Bahl, little did the world of Bollywood know a starlet was going to be born soon. From the very first movie she acted in to the multiple characters she played through the roles, Ranaut’s journey has been extremely inspiring. Check out her growth from Gangster to Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi!
When Kangana entered the world of Bollywood by playing the lead actress, everyone was taken over by her brilliant acting skills and by the way she captivated the audience. A surprising choice of film for her debut, Kangana proved she was in the industry to stay and using this movie as her stepping stone, Ranaut started soaring!
2. Life In A Metro
This particular film saw a change in Kangana’s character. For a lot of people, it was quite surprising to see the jump from bold to quiet. Playing the role of a secretary in love with her married boss, Kangana’s quiet character was quite the new spin. In fact, this film saw a brand new side to Ranaut, making people realise there were several more layers to her than what met the eye.
After two massive success (Gangster and Life In A Metro,) Kangana’s next film (Shakalaka Boom Boom) was a disappointment. While not many thought she could bounce back after a flop like this, Ranaut proved everyone wrong with her brilliant performance in Fashion. Known as the movie that turned around her career, Fashion gave Kangana the much needed wings. Not only did she play the character really well, she won several awards to reinforce this fact.
4. Raaz: The Mystery Continues
Playing the role of a super model in a horror movie is not an easy task, but Kangana Ranaut did the unimaginable at this task by playing this role to perfection in Raaz: The Mystery Continues. This time, however, her character is possessed by a ghost and Ranaut, true to her style, plays the role really well! Incidentally, this film marked Kangana’s definite growth as an actress in the industry!
5. Tanu Weds Manu
After a series of semi serious films, Kangana Ranaut made her foray into the world of romantic movies with Tanu Weds Manu. A girl used to doing whatever she wants to all her life, Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) is faced with a serious life changing choice when she falls in love with Manu (Madhavan.) This was perhaps one of the best performances by Ranaut and clinched her position as a serious actress in the industry.
6. Krrish 3
Despite Tanu Weds Manu being such a massive success, the next couple of films went on to become box office disasters. Not surprisingly, Ranaut jumped back into the game with Krrish 3. One of her first films to cross the Rs. 100 crores mark, this film changed the course of Ranaut’s career!
Despite Krrish 3 becoming such a success, the actress’s career was slightly derailed because of the multiple controversies which came to light shortly after the movie hit the screens. The first was her alleged affair with Hrithik Roshan, her Krrish 3 co star, while the other major scandal was her calling out all the major stars and directors for everything they supposedly did wrong in the industry.
With all the controversies surrounding Ranaut, what she needed was a turning point in her career. This breakthrough came in the form of Queen, which put Kangana Ranaut on the map of really great actresses. All the controversies from the past surrounding Ranaut were overshadowed by her wonderful performance in this film. Playing the role of a girl who discovers herself after being left at the altar, Ranaut proved to everyone that to love yourself, you do not need a man or acceptance from the society. Doing great things comes from within and this movie showed just that! In fact, so great was her acting in it, she made sure the film became a cult changer!
8. Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi
Not only will she play the role of the legendary warrior Rani Lakshmi Bai in this film, Kangana Ranaut will don the hat of a director for the first time in her impressive career. Proving to everyone she can really do everything at the same time, it is really going to be interesting to see how she pulls off this particular character. Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is all set to hit the screens next year, so stay tuned for a really great film!
Despite Kangana Ranaut having such a successful career, her life has been quite riddled with controversies. However, despite all the backlash she received, Ranaut has always bounced back with more going on for her than ever! An inspiring story that puts her on the map, it is indeed refreshing to see a young girl enter the Bollywood world with no connections or family names to fall back upon. If you think we missed out on mentioning any other Kangana Ranaut films, comment and let us know!

Bollywood Villains So Scary, They Still Give Us The Creeps
Bollywood has given us a lot to be thankful for over the years. From giving us movies that make us believe in happily ever afters to giving us villains that terrify the living day lights out of us, Bollywood has truly been a treasure trove of great stories and characters. While a lot of attention has been given to the love stories and the heroes of Bollywood, not much has been said about the scary dudes or the villains (the true unsung heroes of Bollywood.) Here’s taking a look at some really scary villains in Bollywood!
1. Gabbar Singh (Sholay)
From giving people iconic lines and really good songs, Sholay has been one of the most loved films since the day it hit the screens. However, while people love this film not just for Amitabh Bachchan’s character or Basanti’s dancing, but for the wonderful villain in the form of Gabbar Singh! Remember the line, kitne aadmi the? It was said by none other than this great, scary dude with the grand twirling mustache! Definitely one of the best villains in Bollywood to date!
2. Mogambo (Mr. India)
Even after all these years, Mr. India is still loved universally for the many brilliant characters. Most importantly, it was widely appreciated for the unique character of Mogambo! Remember the line, “Mogambo khush hua?” Of course you do! No one can ever forget the way this man scared everyone so royally with his disappearing act and iconic hat! One of the most spectacular villains to date for sure!
3. Sir Juda (Karz)
Despite the fact that Sir Juda from Karz had no dialogues in the film, he was still one of the scariest villains in the world of Bollywood. For the first time in the history of villains in Bollywood, it was interesting to see this man give orders through knocks! Also, let’s not forget Sir Juda’s right hand man, the person responsible for translating his boss’s orders. The right hand man was just as scary as Sir Juda, right? We think so!
4. Kajol (Gupt)
Perhaps one of the first ever female actresses to get nominated for the best villain role, Kajol was flawlessly scary in Gupt. She was already at the peak of her career and this film just pushed her over the edge from mediocrity to brilliance. Playing the role of a stalker, psychopath and a killer all in one, Kajol’s performance in this movie was flawless and brilliantly executed!
5. Shaan (Shakaal)
Even though Kulbhushan Kharbanda played some really great roles, his portrayal of Shaan in Shakaal is the most memorable one. What is most surprising here is that while Kulbushan played a lot of good boy roles in the past, his depiction of an evil villain like this was never seen before. Quite a contrasting change, right?
With so many great villains in the industry, it is indeed hard to pick just one classic bad guy. Who is your favouite villain? Comment and let us know!
Amitabh Bachchan Movies That Need To Be Made Again
Amitabh Bachchan was perhaps the man behind redefining Hindi cinema. From redefining the way people looked at actors to the way he captivated the audience through his brilliant acting, Big B is most certainly the man who made Indian cinema what it is today. From Sholay to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum to Pink, Amitabh Bachchan has more than proved his worth not just as an actor but a man who stood on a platform of his own. Check out some of the most iconic performances by this great man here.
With his larger than life personality and oozing with charisma like never before, Amitabh Bachchan burned the screen with his brilliant acting in Hum! Playing the role of Rajnikanth’s and Govinda’s brother in this multi starrer movie, Big B definitely made his presence felt in this Mukul Anand directorial. If this movie was to be remade, no one else can even think of being compared to the brilliant cast this Mukul Anand film had!
2. Muqaddar Ka Sikander
In this filmy version of Devdas, Amitabh Bachchan proved his worth as one of the finest actors in the Bollywood industry. Standing his ground next to a talented star like Vinod Khanna, Big B made it be known that he was not just a good looking man but a really talented actor as well!
Amitabh Bachchan delivered one of his best performances in his career in this Hrishikesh Mukherji directorial. Playing the role of an insecure husband constantly overshadowed by his extremely talented wife, Big B portrays what every man in this position feels like with flawless ease. No other actor could have played this role as well as Amitabh Bachchan did!
Perhaps one of the best films made by Yash Chopra, Silsila was one of the most romantic films Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha acted in together. A star studded film, this movie laid the foundation of a beautiful chemistry between Rekha and Big B, with Sanjeev Kumar essaying his role to a level of perfection like never before! Definitely a film that needs to be remade, hopefully with the same cast if possible!
How many people can play a man suffering from indigestion and constipation as well as Amitabh? Not many, right? Right! With a host of different personalities to his character, Senior Bachchan pulled off the role of an over bearing father with extreme ease and perfection. On the other hand, Piku cannot be described as a movie with bowel and constipation issues. It is about breaking from the conventional norms of story telling and exploring family dynamics in a new light, with Big B forming the central character of the film!
While there have been several versions of Don, the original Amitabh Bachchan film can never be remade, with this version always remaining as one of the most classic films made to date. With snazzy one liners and a spectacular double role performance by Big B, the original Don deserves a place on the best Bollywood films to date and has to immortalised in the forever changing sands of time.
Not many could have dreamed of playing second fiddle to Rajesh Khanna and still get noticed. However, Amitabh Bachchan did the unthinkable and managed to get noticed despite being paired opposite such an impressive actor. While Big B turned his act around and got noticed for his acting skills, Anand was also the movie which was credited as the turning point in his career.
Before doing Zanjeer, Amitabh Bachchan was known for his family dramas and sensitive roles. However, this film showed the serious side to this quick growing actor and was responsible for Amitabh Bachchan’s nickname as the Angry Young Man of Bollywood! With anger and depth instilled into every scene of this really well thought out film, Amitabh Bachchan grew into his own.
There have been so many movies Big B has been a part of that were thought to be really great. However, while we cannot mention them all here, we leave it to you to pick the ones you think are best. Comment and let us know which Big B movie you loved the most and why!
