For a long time now, looking at Varun Dhawan’s previous films, one would have thought he owned the comedy niche of Bollywood. However, the young Dhawan has been surprising everyone with his latest movie, October.
The first song from this full of love movie, Theherja just released and all directions point to a truly melodious beginning.
Seeped in melody… And the moments depicted in this song compliment beautifully… Here’s #TheherJa from Shoojit Sircar’s #October… Stars Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu… 13 April 2018 release… Link: https://t.co/i39AKY5ZN6

Sung by Aarman Malik, this song celebrates nature, the autumn season and love in the little details. Theherja talks about the simplicity of love and the foot tapping music perfectly compliments the lyrics. Listen to it here.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, October marks the debut of a new actress, Banita Sandhu. The movie is scheduled to hit the screens on 13 April, 2018.
Wishing Juhi Chawla A Very Happy Birthday Through Her Music
Juhi Chawla, the original Bubbly Girl of Bollywood, turns a year older and wiser and is now, more beautiful than she ever was. As the lady who made her grand Bollywood debut opposite none other than Aamir Khan, the Chocolate Boy of the country at that point, not many thought she would last long. However, through the years, the actress has time and time again proved she is not just a pretty face, but a true force of nature. Here’s celebrating the beautiful lady’s roles through the years by listening to some of her really famous songs.
1. Aye Mere Hamsfar from Qayamat Se Quayamat Tak (1988)
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was to the ’80s what Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was to the ’90s. Defining love and giving major goals to the people in their teens, this movie brought Juhi Chawla’s innocence to the screen in all its glory. A musical hit in every way possible, Aye Mere Humsafar was perhaps the most iconic song Juhi Chawla performed in, making a statement so strong, she made the Bollywood world sit up and take notice. Listen to the song here.
2. Ghoonghat Ki Aad Se Dilbar Ka from Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993)
Another Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla classic, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke was one of those iconic Bollywood movies that is now forever etched in the sands of time. What makes this film so much more memorable was because of Juhi Chawla’s brilliant performance. Not only that, this song also had one of the best dance moves Chawla made during that period of her career. If you still have not listened to this masterpiece of a song even after all these years, you are definitely missing out.
3. Likha Hai Ye from Darr
Darr had everything coming together for a perfectly entertaining package. With tantalizing music, a script that kept one hooked to the very end and a cast that was spellbinding, to say the least, Chawla’s Darr was just sheer brilliance. To top it all, the fact it was a Yash Chopra film was just the perfect cherry on top of an already delicious cake. For those not in the know, here’s the song!
4. Ishq Hua from Ishq
That Aamir Khan’s and Juhi Chawla’s chemistry is amazing is an undeniable fact. To prove just this, their film Ishq was just the much needed balm on a hot day. Remember the magic created by these two brilliant actors in all their previous films? It was brought back to life in Ishq. What’s more, Ishq Hua was the track clinching everything together in a beautiful bundle. Listen to the song here and now.
For a long time, people loved watching Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla on the big screen together. However, through the years, the actress grew to make room for another Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) next to her. Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani could be described as one of the best movies Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla worked on together. In fact, the title song of this film is so famous, people groove to its beats even after all these years! You know you have to listen to it here.
Thugs Of Hindostan Song Vashmalle Released
Vashmalle, the first song from Yash Raj Films’ highly anticipated film, Thugs of Hindostan, just dropped. From the looks of things, this song is just as exciting as the trailer. One of the most exciting movies releasing next year, this particular film has a lot of things going for it, a factor made all the more enticing with this song. From the script to the cast, everything about this movie is keeping people gripped to the edge of their seat with bated breaths.
The just dropped song, titled Vashmalle, has been sung by the highly talented singer duo of Ajay and Atul, with lyrics given by Amitabh Bhattacharya and choreography by the brilliant dancer, Prabhudeva! While the song is foot tapping, what makes it all the more special is the fact it sees Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan come together on the silver screen for the first time ever! Listen to the song here and NOW.
For the first time ever, watch two superstars shake a leg together! Let’s do the #Vashmalle – SONG OUT NOW #ThugsOfHindostan @SrBachchan | @aamir_khan | #KatrinaKaif | @fattysanashaikh | #SukhwinderSingh | @AjayAtulOnline | @VishalDadlani | #AmitabhBhattacharya | @TOHTheFilm pic.twitter.com/qhSOHcG9Iy
— Yash Raj Films (@yrf) October 16, 2018
With a setting surrounding the theme of friendship and camaraderie, the song is a true joy fest through and through. Quite like the trailer, the first song reminds one of the intense fight scenes between Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa from the film Pirates of the Caribbean! This particular Yash Raj Films production has an impressive cast to its name. Apart from Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, Thugs of Hindostan also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh in pivotal roles.
“It is amazing that we could write a suitable moment in the film that sees these two icons of Indian cinema shake a leg with each other and the song will stand out because of their infectious energy and camaraderie. The song presents Mr. Bachchan and Aamir Khan in the mood to celebrate. I have to reveal that the sequence will show them getting drunk during the celebrations and then breaking out to dance on this high energy number. It is a priceless moment that we have captured in Thugs of Hindostan,” director Vijay Krishna Acharya said while talking about the film previously. Thugs of Hindostan is scheduled to hit the screens sometime next year, so stay tuned for the release date!
Kishore Kumar And A Memory That Lives Through Music
Kishore Kumar lef the world on 13th October 1987, marking it as a sad day in the history of Bollywood and music. A day that took away one of the most enigmatic and beautiful singers, 13th October was labelled as the end of an era. When Kishore Kumar passed away, India lost a true gem, making fans all over realise that if music had a name, the name would be Kishore Da. Known for his voice filled with feelings, it is only befitting that one pays tribute to this great man through the melodious music he left behind. As I sit back on this nostalgic Sunday and think of the loss of a singer who touched not only his generation, but several ones after, I would like to leave you with these songs.
1. Yeh Shaam Mastani (Kati Patang, 1971)
Yeah, today’s evening is going to be a beautiful one, but really, remembering the death of this great man is going to put a damper on a beautiful Sunday. If only Kishore Da were still alive, every evening would be a wonderful and memorable one, with new songs and melodies to keep the bad dreams at bay!
2. Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si (Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, 1958)
Hands down one of the most amazing songs by Kishore Kumar, this song has been playing on my mind since the time I woke up this morning! Perhaps the best kind of tribute one can play to Kishore Kumar, either on a rainy day or a sunny day!
3. Dil Kya Kare (Julie, 1975)
Seriously, Dil Kya Kare when you lose someone who has been such an indirect and close part of your life? Nothing more than listen to Kishore Kumar’s music, right? On a side note, every time I break up with a dude (happens more number of times than you can think of,) this song is my go to heart fixer!
4. Maana Janab Ne Pukara Nahin (Paying Guest, 1975)
This song is feels personified. With Kishore Da in his complete element in Maana Janab Ne Pukara Nahin is a Kishore Da song through and through. The song is a perfect description of love that is not entirely two sided and is perhaps the most beautiful ode to being okay with the bad situations as any!
5. Roop Tera Mastana (Aradhana, 1975)
How many times a day have you listened to this song and hummed it over and over? Come on, you know you love this song as much as we do! Do not cat call pretty girls with this song. Bad idea! You’ll land up in prison and that is never good for anyone, right?
6. Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (Blackmail, 1973)
Kishore Da, you may have left the world, but you are always going to be close to our heart. No matter what. Even more so through this song. P.S., if you were ever in the need of a quick fix with the love of your life, this song is the ultimate problem fixer! Trust me, a lot of people I know have used it and it has worked wonders every single time.
7. Mere Sapno Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu (Aradhana, 1969)
Putting into words what every man wants, this song is the perfect ode to finding true love and happily ever afters. Interestingly, in recent times, the songs from Dilwale Dulhaniye Le Jayenge are the only ones that comes close to this beauty! However, Kishore Kumar is the true original genius when it comes to romantic music, right?
As the country mourns the death of a man who would have been 80 if fate had not ended his life early, I am going to kick back, relax and play these songs all day with a cup of hot, strong tea! What is your favourite Kishore Kumar song? Comment and let us know!
Bollywood Films Where The Music Stole The Show
Every time we watch a film, there are certain elements from the movie which leave a lasting mark. From the music to the background effects to the script, everything comes together in a manner which could either break or make the movie. While some movies became an instant hit purely because of the actors or the script, others have become famous for their amazing songs and background scores. Today, we take a look at how the Piper sang and drew people to the theaters not in singles, but in massive numbers!
1. Mughal E Azam
A period drama showing the much talked about love between Saleem and Anarkali, what made this movie so great was not just the movie, but the background score and music as well! More than 50 years after its release, the songs from Mughal E Azam are always at the back of our minds. From songs about proving your love (Jab Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya) to songs about eternal hope (Shubh Din Ayo,) all the songs were perhaps some of the best Bollywood could offer. Listen to Jab Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya here.
2. Umrao Jaan
While Umrao Jaan tells the story of a girl sold to a brothel for revenge, what makes the film so remarkably beautiful is the songs. Exploring different sides of love, heartbreak and pain in a manner like never before, songs like Dil Cheez Kya Hai and In Aankhon Ki Masti Main address exactly how one feels during heartbreaking times. For those who would like to know, the mujra Rekha performs during In Aankhon Ki Masti Main still gives everyone electrifying goosebumps! Listen to the song here!
An epic movie in the sense that it had Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Jaya Bachchan in the lead roles, the film broke all records when it released. However, what made this movie so great is it had some of the best songs of the time. In fact, even before the film hit the screens, the title track of Silsila instantly stuck in the minds of the listeners. With lyrics that calmed your aching soul and music that made even the tone deaf sit up and listen, the title track was the perfect balm to cold hearts. If you do not know what I am talking about, then you absolutely have to listen to it here and now!
4. Muqaddar Ka Sikandar
The entire album from this movie has been named as perhaps the best music album in the Bollywood world at the time. While the movie in itself was really good, the songs were the perfectly delicious cherry on the top. While the title track was beautiful, to say the least, it was the song Salaam E Ishq that put Muqaddar Ka Sikandar on the map of great films! Listen to the song here!
5. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Who can say no to a love story revolving around Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol? While the story had everything you would want (family drama, the stoic father and the rich brat with no real future,) what really drew everyone to the theaters in numbers even years after the release was the wonderful music. With both Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar giving their voice to this beautiful film, songs like Mehendi Laga Ke Rakhna and Tujhe Dekha Toh Ye Jaana Sanam are still among our top ten favourite songs list! Listen to Tujhe Dekha Toh Ye Jaana Sanam here!
While the script for this particular Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan film was slightly contrived, what made the film better was the amazing music. An all time favourite song from this overly dramatic movie was Boro Boro because it was sung by the eternally famous Arash! Starring Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles, this song was the main reason for the film to become a success! Listen to the song here!
7. Rock On
Rock On, as a movie was amazing on its own, there is absolutely no denying the fact. However, what made Rock On so much better was the brilliant music. What came as an added bonus was this film was perhaps the first time Farhan Akhtar sang a song himself! A movie about exploring oneself, growing in and out of friendships and realising music was the characters’ first true love, Rock On still gives viewers goosebumps every time they watch the movie! Listen to Sinbad the Sailor here!
8. Band Baaja Baaraat
While Band Baaja Baaraat was known for marking the Bollywood debut of Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh, not many know it also marked the debut of international singer, Natalia Di Luccio. An Italian Canadian singer famous for her YouTube channel, Natalia’s voice was so strong in this film that she gave her voice to not one, but ten films after! Listen to the song here.

Ruk Ruk Ruk The Latest Song From Helicopter Eela Is Here
‘Tis the season of revamps, modifications and giving a new touch to the old! Hitching their ride to this bandwagon is Ruk Ruk Ruk, the brand new song from Kajol’s extremely exciting upcoming film, Helicopter Eela! While the original song was sung by Alisha Chinai, this new version has vocals given by Raghav Sachar and Palomi Ghosh.
The two songs can be compared to each other in more ways than one. For starters, while the old song had Tabu’s character dancing and singing to Ajay Devgn, the new version has been pictured around Kajol’s character! From the music to the lyrics to the beat, this new song shows Kajol’s character embracing everything life has to offer with anticipation and excitement in every step. Listen to it here!
#RukRuk Arre Baba Ruk!
— Kajol (@KajolAtUN) September 25, 2018
Another interesting similarity between the new Ruk Ruk Ruk and the old Ruk Ruk, Ruk? Anu Malik and Raghav Sachdev, the composer duo of the original song, make a cameo appearance in the revamped version! Kudos, guys, for giving us exciting surprises! On a serious note, while the original lyrics of Ruk, Ruk Ruk have been retained, the new composers have given the revamped version a modern touch by turning this new song into a rap song!
Talking about the new version of Ruk Ruk Ruk, Raghav said, “I have retained the melody just like it was in the original by Anu Malik. We have updated the song with new rap portions that make it more conversational. Since Eela’s character is very expressive, it adds a personal touch to the song.”
Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Helicopter Eela marks the return of Kajol to the silver screen after a long gap. The last time the pretty lady was seen on the screen was in Dilwale, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Helicopter Eela is scheduled to hit the screens on the 12th of October this year, so do not forget to book your tickets when it gets out!
