Apna Time Aayega, Gully Boy First Song Out!
After bowling over everyone with the brilliant rapping skills in the recently dropped trailer of Gully Boy, the makers of the film just dropped their first song, Apna Time Aayega! Fitting perfectly into the role of a rapper to the tee, Gully Boy sees Ranveer Singh play the role of Divine to perfection.
With lyrics given by none other than the epic rapper Divine, the title track of this film borrows the theme from Divine’s recent song, Teesri Manzil. The two and half minute long song shows one scenes that haven’t been shown in the trailer yet, with most of the parts showing what to expect from Alia Bhatt’s and Ranveer Singh’s characters. Not only does the song show the various stages of Ranveer’s growth as a rapper, it also shows how Ranveer’s character is taught about the kind of traps to avoid by his mentor! Listen to the song here!
— Ranveer Singh (@RanveerOfficial) January 14, 2019
From showing us how Ranveer’s character was attracted to the life of crime since he was a child to giving us an insight into his childhood, the brand new song is quite a trip down Divine’s childhood. To make matters interesting, the song also shows us how Divine’s life changes the moment Kalki’s character enters his life, giving Ranveer’s character the push toward earning money and fame!
Speaking about the film and his role in the film, Ranveer said, “When somebody told me about the script of Gully Boy, I told them that it is my film. If any other actor would have been a part of this film instead of me then I would have got burnt with jealousy. I was born to do Gully Boy and I knew only I can pull off this character.”
Directed by Zoya Akhtar with Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin playing the lead roles in Gully Boy, this Zoya Akhtar directorial focuses on the life of Divine and other popular Mumbai rappers. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on the 14th of February, this year!
Om Shabd Song From The Accidental Prime Minister Released
Before Anupam Kher’s extremely talked about and controversial film, The Accidental Prime Minister hits the screens tomorrow, the makers dropped a brand new song from the film, titled Om Shabd. Sticking to the meaning of the word ’om,’ which represents the ‘ultimate reality,’ this song brings to light the ultimate reality of the film’s central theme.
Based on the late poet Vaidyanath Mishra’s poem Om Shabd, the song, composed by Sadhu Tiwari, draws parallels to a similar theme on which the original version of Om Shabd was based. Listen to the song here!
— Anupam Kher (@AnupamPKher) January 9, 2019
In a nutshell, the just released song shows how the ex Prime Minister of India was merely a puppet who worked according to what the Congress party wanted. Om Shabd is apt and distinctly maps the rule of Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister and with the famous couplet, “Om sher ke daant, bhaloo ke naakhoon, markatka phota, hamesha hamesha karega raaj mera pota,” speculations are already building up about who the rabbit is, who the monkey is and who the bear is.
Marred with controversy ever since the film was announced, the theme of The Accidental Prime Minister is derived from a book with a similar title, by Sanjaya Baru. Although the book didn’t face as much reaction and furor as the film is receiving, it is going to be quite interesting to see the story of Manmohan Singh on the silver screen. A look at how greed and religion are the central drivers of politics in India, Om Shabd neatly ties up all the film has to say in just a few minutes. Directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, The Accidental Prime Minister is scheduled to hit the screens on the 11th of January!
Farah Khan’s Birthday – The Choreographer’s Journey In Bollywood
Farah Khan, a woman who can make you groove to her steps and make you laugh out loud with all her movies, turns 54 years old today. While the Country takes to social media to wish this gorgeous lady, here’s taking a look at some of the best choreographies she has done till date!
1. Pehla Nasha from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander
Pehla Nasha from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander marked Farah Khan’s debut in the world of Bollywood as a choreographer. Perhaps one of the most iconic songs, the steps from this song are remembered even today. Did you know, when Farah started choreographing the steps for this song, Aamir Khan helped her bring to life the steps she thought were too difficult to recreate? Watch the song here!
If you thought the steps from this particular song were extremely hard to imitate, you know you have a Farah Khan song on your hands. Also, not easy to choreograph an entire dance sequence on top of a moving train, right? On a side note, did you know, the song became so popular when the film released, that people used to sing and dance in the theater when it played on the screen? Listen to the song here for some good old nostalgia!
Although Hrithik Roshan’s face comes to mind when you think of this particular song, it was Farah Khan who gave the moves which make you groove to the beats even now. In fact, when Farah Khan was initially asked to choreograph the steps for this song, she wasn’t too pumped because she thought the song was too slow to make a mark. The moment Farah saw Hrithik pull some truly brilliant moves, she changed the entire choreography! When the song released, the hit factor proved how good a team Hrithik Roshan and Farah Khan make. Check out the song here to see how Hrithik surprised everyone!
4. Wo Ladki Hai Kahan from Dil Chahta Hai
Post the immense fan following which followed Hrithik Roshan’s iconic step in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Farah Khan realised very quickly that the secret to making a song stick is to have one unique step in every song. What made Wo Ladki Hai Kahan so popular was the iconic hand flapping step, a move which is synonymous with the song even today. Check out the song here.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga Title Track Out
After releasing the trailer of Ek Ladki Toh Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, the team finally dropped the film’s title track and just like the trailer, the song is all things amazing! Drawing parallels between the original song from 1942: A Love Story, the modified version is a modern rendition with a twist.
Although the original song was by R.D. Burman, the recreated version has lyrics written by Gurpreet Saini and is sung by Darshan Raval and Rochak Kohli. The new version hints at a possible romantic relationship between Sonam Kapoor’s character and another woman. Listen to the title track of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga here!

Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga sees Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor sharing screen together for the first time! If the trailer is anything to go by, this particular movie is going to see Sonam Kapoor fall in love with another woman, while Anil Kapoor opposes this love story. Although the name of the character who’s playing Sonam Kapoor’s love interest hasn’t been revealed yet, reports say, the role is going to be played by Regina Cassandra!
Talking about why Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor are perfect for these roles in this film, Shelly said in a statement, “Being a father and daughter as they are, it was a perfect combination for me and fortunately they agreed on the script. It’s their first film together. They are both professionals and great actors. Somewhere it helps if you are father and daughter in real life. It definitely helped the film.” Ek Ladki Toh Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is scheduled to hit the screens on the 1st of February this year!
