India is a beautiful place filled with mystery, spice and everything nice. For people who do not live here, visualising the grandeur which surrounds the entire country boasts off is a little hard, right? Time and again, Bollywood has done justice in the way it shows India through scenes, colours and action. Here are ten movies which describe India in its true light!
Aamir Khan’s Lagaan was made during a time when the British were at their prime. The kings in the country were only kings for the sake of it and everyone had to pay tax to them. Lagaan showed us the hardships faced by the villagers. The cricket match showed a pivotal fight where the villagers came out victorious. This movie glorified a side of India not many of us know about and it did it without a bias.
2. Jodhaa Akbar
While the central line of love was quite a common one, the way Sanjay Leela Bhansali showed it was quite unique. Set during the 16th century, Jodhaa Akbar portrayed true love and was set in the beautiful Mughal capital of the time. Grandeur, luxury and culture came out in the best way possible in this movie.
Not only do you get to see North India in its true light but one also get to see the true spirit of the capital of India. The scenes from Hauz Khas Village, Nizamuddin Dargah and then Kashmir give us an insight into true opulent wealth, culture and grandeur.
While the movie may have been about a kidnapee falling in love with her kidnapper, the scenic hillsides of Kashmir showed us what it was like to truly live the open and free life.
Music. Love. Poetry. Song and dance make Taal the beautiful movie it is. Not only that, it shows us what the village of Chambal really was like back in the day. A movie is worth the watch atleast a thousand times over!
Total Dhamaal Review And First Day Box Office Expectations
Cast: Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Javed Jaffrey, Sanjay Mishra, Sanjay Dutt, Johnny Lever, Esha Gupta, Crystal The Monkey, Aftab Shivdasani, Rajpal Yadav, Boman Irani
Director: Indra Kumar
The story of Total Dhamaal (the third installment of the Dhamaal series,) tells a pretty simple tale. A dying man reveals a secret, a Rs. 50 crores booty he stashed away in a forest in Janakpur, India. The hope of finding this life changing amount of money sends a group of crazy people literally on a wild goose chase to the remote jungles. The group includes a constantly fighting couple (Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit,) greedy siblings (Arshad Warsi and Javed Jaffrey,) local villains (Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Mishra) and a police commissioner (Boman Irani.) The dying man pulls the trigger on the search for a crazy treasure and this leaves us with a serious question. Do they finally find the treasure or is it just another search for the pot of the gold at the end of the rainbow?
Cars ramming into trucks, roaring tigers, a crazy monkey and bridges falling through half way in the movie, Total Dhamaal is one long ride into the unknown. As a director, Indra Kumar has left no stone unturned when it comes to creating a crazy Indian adventure. While the beginning parts of the movie set the scenes for a pretty exciting adventure ride, the beginning gives away most of what is happening.
Despite the plot being slightly weaker than the bridge which falls half way through, the film pulls through because of the impressive star cast. Opening to the highly hyped and pumped up title song which introduces the cast, Total Dhamaal progresses toward a slightly weird turn of events.
However, even though there are certain holes in the script and the story lacks luster, the cast does a brilliant job. Anil Kapoor is his usual comic self. Madhuri Dixit sheds off her charming look for a slightly negative role and the Arshad Warsi – Javed Jaffrey duo, brings their ‘A’ game to the table. Boman Irani plays an extremely convincing cop, with Ajay Devgn playing his character to perfection, like always!
Although the film could have been written better, there are more than a few hilarious moments. With the first two parts of the Dhamaal series being brilliant, this third part falls a few steps short of something really amazing. A comedy of errors, this movie had all the trappings of a truly brilliant adventure, director Indra Kumar just doesn’t hit the nail on the head. Although seemingly drawing influences from movies like It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World and the Hangover Series, this movie could have given us more than just a handful of laughs but fails to deliver what was promised. All in all, Total Dhamaal is a one time watch at best.
Kesari Trailer Finally Out
Kesari, the highly talked about Akshay Kumar movie, finally has a trailer to its name. After three back to back teasers enticing and drawing in the audience, the trailer finally gives a complete picture. While the teasers showed us various shades of Akshay’s character in the film, this trailer talks about the intense battle which was the Battle of Saragarhi.
Filled with action, drama and amazing fight sequences, the trailer sees with how much pride the Sikhs are filled, fighting for their rights and their homeland. The just dropped trailer shows the amount of courage 21 Sikh soldiers had to fight against 10,000 Afghan tribesmen. Watch the trailer here!
An incredible true story of valour, sacrifice & bravery – told like never before! #KesariTrailer out now – https://t.co/eDqk8Lts6t@ParineetiChopra @SinghAnurag79 @karanjohar @apoorvamehta18 @SunirKheterpal @DharmaMovies #CapeOfGoodFilms @iAmAzure @ZeeStudios_ #Kesari

Everything about this trailer is quite an eye opener. From the music, to the action and to the entire sets, the video takes us through one of the “bravest battles ever fought,” according to the posters and trailers! Akshay Kumar’s perfect portrayal of the leader of the Sikhs and the way he commands the entire force, gives one goosebumps. An untold story about a war which changed the course of Indian history, this trailer leaves one wanting for more.
For the uninitiated, the Battle of Saragarhi took place on the 12th of September, 1897. Ordered by the British, 21 Sikh soldiers were tasked with the job of protecting the forts of Lockhart and Gulistan, on the border of Afghanistan. What history does not tell us is, the soldiers were fighting for their homeland because of the love they had for it and not just because of the orders given to them. The trailer also gives us a look into how proud the soldiers were of being Sikhs. Everything about this movie promises to be a treat like never before!
Directed by Anurag Singh, this movie also stars Parineeti Chopra in the lead role! Kesari: The Untold Story, is all set to hit the screens on the 21st of March this year and we cannot wait! Can you?
Badla First Song Kyun Rabba Released
Kyun Rabba, the first song from Taapsee Pannu’s and Amitabh Bachchan’s highly anticipated film, Badla, is finally out! While the recently released trailer shows us about what the movie is, without really divulging the details, the song gives us a little more insight.
Composed by Amaal Mallik and sung by Armaan Malik, the first song has been shot through the point of view of the character played by Taapsee Pannu. Bringing out an array of emotions and feelings, Kyun Rabba shows how a woman deals with a broken heart and with unrequited love. Listen to the song from Badla here and now!

Centering primarily around the character played by Taapsee Pannu, this song is all about accepting that life doesn’t always go the way you want. With different storylines being played out, this song also hints at the fact that Taapsee’s character may be having an extramarital affair. With not a lot of information revealed about this part in the trailer or any of the posters, the twist in the song adds a certain sense of intrigue to the story.
Speaking about the song, composer Amaal Mallik said in a statement, “I like to keep things simple, especially for a song that is set in a thriller like Badla, where the emotions need to be conveyed with complexity. So, I compose a melody first and then place the arrangements for the song. Here, we’ve opted for an alternate rock feel with an Indian soundscape.”
With the song being all things simple and easy, Kyun Rabba doesn’t act like a filler, but instead, pushes the movie forward. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, Badla brings back Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu after Pink, their first film together. While Taapsee Pannu plays the role of a woman trying to defend herself, Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of her lawyer. Badla is scheduled to hit the screens on the 8th of March this year!
Luka Chuppi Song, Tu Laung Main Elaachi, Out Now
Tu Laung Main Elaachi, the fourth song from Luka Chuppi, just dropped. Looking at it, one can safely say, the trend of remaking songs isn’t dying anytime soon. With Kriti Sanon’s and Kartik Aaryan’s characters being the central focus, this song is set against the backdrop of their wedding.
The new song draws inspiration from a Punjabi song with a similar name (Laung Laachi,) and leaves you wanting for more. Sung by Mannat Noor, the original track is from a 2018 movie, Laung Laachi. Interestingly, the new version retains the lyrics from the original Punjabi song, which were written by Harmanjit. The music for the new version is composed by Tanishk Bagchi. Listen to the new version here!

The two and a half minute video of Tu Laung Main Elaachi sees Kartik’s and Kriti’s characters shaking their legs to the tunes of this Punjabi song during the rituals which follow their wedding. This new song is the fourth recreated song of the movie, with the earlier songs being Poster Lagwa Do, Coca Cola and Photo. In fact, according to the rumour mill, the makers are all set to release a fifth song, also a remake, called Duniya!
Telling the story of two people defying the society by living together before marriage, Luka Chuppi is directed by Laxman Utekar. Also starring Aparshakti Khurana and Pankaj Tripathi, this movie is produced by Dinesh Vijan. Scheduled to release on the 1st of March, Luka Chuppi is going to clash with the Bhumi Pednekar and Sushant Singh Rajput starrer, Sonchiraiya! With a story line like this, it is going to be truly interesting to see how Luka Chuppi does at the thearter!
Amitabh Bachchan – Best Movies Of The Superstar From The Last 50 Years
Amitabh Bachchan, the superstar, the King of Bollywood, the ultimate Badshah of Bollywood, finishes 50 years in the industry today! While the baritone voice is a familiar presence in the Country now, the Angry Young Man of Bollywood had an inspiring journey. Here is taking a look at Amitabh Bachchan’s journey in the world of Bollywood in the last 5 decades!
Zanjeer set the world of Bollywood onto a new path. While Amitabh Bachchan was already coming into his own before this film, Zanjeer gave the actor a new direction. When Amitabh Bachchan was introduced to the world of Bollywood, people had a new face to look at and admire. With the movie being all things amazing and Amitabh Bachchan being hailed as the next big thing, everyone was looking forward to something exciting. As a first movie, Zanjeer was the best thing which could happen to the Angry Young Man.
From the moment Zanjeer became the super hit film that it was destined to be, Amitabh Bachchan’s success kept growing. With Silsila, his presence in the world of Bollywood was further cemented through his brilliant acting skills. His scintillating chemistry with Rekha quite literally set the rumour mill on fire, giving people a fresh new pair to look forward to everyday! A movie which wasn’t just about love, Silsila redefined the way people looked at and dealt with different circumstances. With the characters being so carefully handled, the movie just made everyone stand up and take notice of not just Amitabh Bachchan, but of Rekha as well!
A movie which needs no introduction, Sholay was an Amitabh Bachchan classic film. A classic, Sholay was one of the highest grossing films released at the time and ranked first in the British Film Institute’s 2002 poll of “Top 10 Indian Films” of all time. A story about two criminals (Jeet and Veeru, played by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan,) who try to capture a criminal, Gabbar Singh, this movie more than earned its place in the hall of fame. While the film initially received negative reactions when it released, the reviews quickly picked up and people started falling in love with the characters and the attention to detail the film had. Sholay was a film like never before and was perhaps one of the best performances Amitabh gave so far!
The first and original Don, Amitabh Bachchan was a class act like no other actor. Playing a double role for the first time in his career, senior Bachchan ruled the roost with his acting skills in this movie! The third highest grossing movie when it released, this movie set the charts on fire because of how well Amitabh pulled his weight in both the roles in this movie. Classified as a golden jubilee hit by Box Office India, Don was an iconic movie in every sense of the word. The line, “Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, namumkin hai,” is still popular even today!
This film had a lot of expectations riding on Amitabh Bachchan. The title for this movie was taken from a poem written by Harshvardhan Rai Bachchan (Amitabh’s father) and the film also had an extremely talented cast (Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavi, Neelam Kothari, Rohini Hattangadi and Danny Denzongpa.) The poem written by Amitabh’s father was recited at the beginning of the film and just like Amitabh’s character, the poem gives shape to the central crux of this film as well. With Big B playing the character so well, Agneepath went on to become a major cult movie in years to come!
Telling the story of Piku Banerjee (played by Deepika Padukone) and her father (Amitabh Bachchan,) Piku saw Amitabh Bachchan acing the character. From praising the characterisation, to loving the plot, critics and fans alike loved the movie so much, it became an instant hit the moment it released! While both Deepika Padukone and Irfan Khan added a certain impact to the movie, it was Amitabh Bachchan’s perfect portrayal of a cranky old man which added the much needed gravitas to Piku. Definitely one of Amitabh’s best performances in the recent past!
While Amitabh Bachchan was known for playing certain roles during the earlier part of his career, he grew to play different types of characters in the future years. From changing the way people saw him in cinema, to creating a positive image for himself, Amitabh Bachchan has quite literally carved a throne for himself in the world of Bollywood. Here’s looking forward to more amazing films from the Badshah of Bollywood in the coming 50 years!
