The secret to successful, beautiful women? Their witty answers and quick responses. If you thought our Bollywood Babes won their coveted titles just by being pretty, then think again. Here are 10 people who showed us it was their answers that won them the crown!
1. Sushmita Sen – Miss India Universe, 1994
Question: “What do you know about the textile heritage of your country? How old has it been?”
Answer: “Well, I think it started off with Mahatma Gandhi’s khadi. It’s gone a long way since then, but the basics of the textile heritage lie in there.”
2. Aishwarya Rai – Miss India World, 1994
Question: “If you have to look for qualities in a husband, would you look for the qualities in Ridge Forrester from Bold & Beautiful or in Mason Capwell from Santa Barbara? Why?”
Answer: “The qualities I would look for in a man, between the two characters that you’ve given to me, would be in Mason. Though they do share a lot in common, from what we get to see, Mason does have a very caring side to him and a terrific sense of humour. And that really gels with my character.”
3. Priyanka Chopra – Miss India World, 2000
Question: “If you were a police officer in the garden of Eden, who would you punish for the original sin: Adam, Eve, or the serpent?”
Answer: “If I was the police officer in the garden of Eden, I would punish Satan, the serpent, because I believe that evil is instigated, not created. Eve thought Satan was right. She believed him. Let us get a moral from this: to decipher between good and bad, without being biased.”
4. Gul Panag – Miss India Universe, 1999
Question: “In the context of the recent controversy, if you were Chelsea, what is the single most important advice you as a daughter would give to your parents Bill and Hillary Clinton, and why?”
Answer: “The most important piece of advice I would give my parents, Bill and Hillary Clinton, would be to stand by each other because, now is the time the world is testing us and we should put aside our differences and put up a brave front because family is the single most important unit.”
5. Celina Jaitley – Miss India Universe, 2001
Question: “Let’s consider two often said quotes: 1. Fools seldom differ, and 2. Great minds think alike. Which one do you believe, and why?”
Answer: “I believe that great minds think alike because intelligence is like a triple bond which joins minds to vibe at the same level. The higher the IQ, the greater the bonding.”
6. Tanushree Dutta – Miss India Universe, 2004
Question: “Some believe that too much of everything is as bad as too little. What is your opinion?”
Answer: “Yes, it is true that too much of everything is as bad as little, because satisfaction and gracious acceptance is the keyword for a happy and peaceful life. Too much takes the satisfaction away.”
7. Neha Dhupia – Miss India Universe, 2002
Question: “If given an opportunity to ask the judges a question, what would you ask?”
Answer: “I have only one question to ask everyone out here at this stage. When the world is seeking peace, why are we fighting over one border line? Do you think it’s possible for each one of us to not live as Indians and Pakistanis, and to start living like human beings?”
8. Manushi Chillar – Miss India World, 2017
Question: “You have spent 30 days with your fellow contestants from 30 states of India. What learnings would you take back with you?”
Answer: “I think these 30 days that I’ve spent at …with my fellow contestants have been the most dynamic days of my life and the only thing that was certain about the whole experience was uncertainty. The one belief that I would take back with me would be that I can change the world, because when I entered Miss India, it was only passion and a purpose, but through the journey, I had a vision. That vision in my head and the belief that I can change the world is something that I’m going to take back with me.”

What makes Saaho such an exciting film is that it has been shot in three languages (Hindi, English and Tamil) at the same time, with Shraddha Kapoor playing the female lead. An action thriller, Saaho is going to be Prabhas’s first Hindi film and Shraddha’s second Telugu film. Apart from the two leads, the film also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Jackie Shroff and Mandira Bedi in key roles. Parineeti Chopra: Celebrating Her Best Performances To Date
Parineeti Chopra, now in the limelight for her just released film Namaste England, turns a year older and wiser today. While the actress has a lot going on for her, this birthday is all the more special because of the release of this much awaited flick. As the actress celebrates her special day with close friends and family, we celebrate it by taking a look at her best performances.
1. Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl
Making her debut in the Bollywood version of John Tucker Must Die, Parineeti Chopra stole everyone’s heart with her bubbly and confident nature. Her flair for acting with perfectly timed comic scenes clinched her presence in this film. Despite starring opposite actors like Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma, Parineeti Chopra more than held her ground and proved to people she was in the industry to stay.
Not many would have thought one could recreate Romeo and Juliet in Bollywood, but with Ishaqzaade, everyone was taken aback with surprise. Fighting in favour of love across religions, Parineeti’s character tells people that love knows no boundaries and if one truly wants something, you should go into it guns blazing.
3. Shuddh Desi Romance
Growing from playing the roles of a girl on a mission, Parineeti Chopra upped her game by starring in a purely romance oriented movie. Playing the female lead opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti added the much needed oomph and attitude to the story, creating a memorable role in the process. Definitely a career changing film for this particular lady.
4. Hasee Toh Phasee
It’s not very easy to play the role of a drug obsessed, jilted in love scientist, but Parineeti Chopra pulled off this character so well, it took a while to recognise her. Addressing the overwhelming feeling of loneliness people on the wrong sides of track face, Parineeti brought to the fore the importance of having stability in your life (in this case, a man.) Parineeti’s role in this film was perhaps one of her most riveting performances to date.
5. Daawat E Ishq
Parineeti Chopra made quite a splash in Daawat E Ishq, her first film with Aditya Roy Kapoor. Starring opposite this gorgeous hunk, Parineeti Chopra put quite a comical spin on a serious issue like dowry. Although Aditya Roy Kapoor played his part quite well, it was Parineeti’s brilliant acting which made one fall in love with this particular movie.
6. Namaste England
Namaste England brought to the fore the much loved pair of Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. Playing the role of a strong and independent woman fighting for everything she wants despite being tied down by marriage, Parineeti’s performance was really done well. Despite the film not being such a massive hit, Parineeti’s character was one of the focal points of the movie!
Despite being a part of some run by the mill films, Parineeti Chopra still manages to more than hold her own. Every film she has been a part of, the talented actress ensured she was the focal point. Here’s wishing the actress a very happy birthday and a long, successful career ahead!
Namaste England Review
Cast: Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor, Aditya Seal, Alankrita Sahai
Director: Vipul Amrutlal Shah
Set against the varying backdrops of Punjab and London, Namaste England tells the story of how Param (Arjun Kapoor) and Jasmeet (Parineeti Chopra) meet and instantly fall in love. With more than a justified dose of drama, the film sees the evolving journey of love between Param and Jasmeet, a relationship which sees marriage on the cards in the very near future.
However, despite agreeing to get married, neither of them foresee the possibility of both of them not living in the same country together. As the wedding date draws closer, Jasmeet tells Param of her intention of pursuing her future in London. Playing the role of the love struck boyfriend to perfection, Param decides the place is not important as long as he is with his lady love and makes the bold choice to cross borders with Jasmeet.
Just when you think everything is going to be happy and rosy with Param and Jasmeet, London doesn’t see Param as a suitable resident and promptly rejects his visa (Jasmeet, of course, gets hers.) What follows next is the struggle the two love birds face to get to their happily ever after, with both of them trying everything in their power to make their union a happy and joyous one.
While it is a really good thing to see Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor back on the silver screen together after a long gap (Ishaqzaade was the last film they were in together,) Namaste England just does not live up to the expectations. Despite being shot in exquisite locations and having music that will certainly make you get up and dance, this movie just fails to hit the nail on the head.
The message the makers and the cast are trying to make is quite obvious. This film is about how a man wants to follow a girl and help her make her dreams come true, not the other way around. Unfortunately, what does not work for this Vipul Amrutlal Shah directorial is the fact the script and the story were written with minimal effort. To turn a great idea into a great film requires considerable work and this is something the makers of Namaste England completely missed.
All in all, Namaste England makes for a one time watch. What works for this Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor starrer is the strong nostalgic factor, taking one down the road of Ishaqzaade. At the end of the day, the only strong suit of Namaste England is the beautiful chemistry between the two leads and its catchy music!
Hema Malini And Her Best Performances
Hema Malini, the one and only Dream Girl, turns a year older and wiser today and as the country celebrates the lady who stole Dharmendra’s heart, here is looking at some of her best performances to date!
Perhaps one of the most iconic roles played by this South Indian beauty, the character of Basanti became an instant hit when Sholay hit the silver screens! The right mixture of drama, quirk and fun, this particular role was responsible for propelling Hema Malini into the front lines of the extremely competitive industry that is Bollywood! Incidentally, this role is also considered to be one of the best performances by Hema Malini to date!
A mixture of drama and comedy, Geeta from Seeta Aur Geeta was definitely one of the most iconic roles ever played by Hema Malini! Incidentally, this was also the first time an actress from Bollywood attempted to play a double role and boy, did she kill it with her brilliant performance! So amazing was her job in this film that no one till date has been able to match her acting skills in this movie!
Hema Malini’s role as Aarti in this particular film written by Gulzar (Kinara) won her several accolades by both critics and fans. Giving a strikingly memorable performance by playing the role of a visually impaired dancer, Hema Malini as the simple village girl was a character which resonated with lots of people. In fact, her character in this film was quite a contrast as opposed to her performance in the previous Gulzar film (Khushboo.)
4. Pooja Malhotra
How amazing do Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan look together? The film Baghban reiterated just that fact when she played the role of Pooja Malhotra in this particular family drama. Not only did she play the role of a mother really well, her acting was so brilliant in this film, it brought tears to one’s eyes even after watching the movie for the tenth time! Hands down one of the best performances by Hema Malini so far!
In yet another amazing collaboration between Gulzar and Hema Malini, the film Meera brought to the fore the story of Meerabai! This particular Gulzar film talked about the Rajput code of conduct and addressed Meera’s personal conflicts during a trying time. Hema Malini’s performances as Meerabai was riveting and captivating to the point it made one empathize with Meera’s character like never before! Truly brilliant, this film showed Hema Malini’s acting skills in a new light!
Dream Girl, Hema Malini’s iconic role in the film Champabai, was perhaps her ticket to fame. What is extremely surprising about this film is she played not one, but five different characters with flawless ease and perfection. Interestingly, this was also the movie that brought to the fore the budding romance between her and Dharmendra! So great was her acting in this movie, she was given the official moniker of Dream Girl!
As this doe eyed beauty from the land of South turns 70 today, it is only befitting to wish her a very happy birthday by remembering some of her iconic roles! What is your favourite role to date? Comment and let us know!
Thugs Of Hindostan Song Vashmalle Released
Vashmalle, the first song from Yash Raj Films’ highly anticipated film, Thugs of Hindostan, just dropped. From the looks of things, this song is just as exciting as the trailer. One of the most exciting movies releasing next year, this particular film has a lot of things going for it, a factor made all the more enticing with this song. From the script to the cast, everything about this movie is keeping people gripped to the edge of their seat with bated breaths.
The just dropped song, titled Vashmalle, has been sung by the highly talented singer duo of Ajay and Atul, with lyrics given by Amitabh Bhattacharya and choreography by the brilliant dancer, Prabhudeva! While the song is foot tapping, what makes it all the more special is the fact it sees Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan come together on the silver screen for the first time ever! Listen to the song here and NOW.
For the first time ever, watch two superstars shake a leg together! Let’s do the #Vashmalle – SONG OUT NOW #ThugsOfHindostan @SrBachchan | @aamir_khan | #KatrinaKaif | @fattysanashaikh | #SukhwinderSingh | @AjayAtulOnline | @VishalDadlani | #AmitabhBhattacharya | @TOHTheFilm pic.twitter.com/qhSOHcG9Iy
— Yash Raj Films (@yrf) October 16, 2018
With a setting surrounding the theme of friendship and camaraderie, the song is a true joy fest through and through. Quite like the trailer, the first song reminds one of the intense fight scenes between Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa from the film Pirates of the Caribbean! This particular Yash Raj Films production has an impressive cast to its name. Apart from Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, Thugs of Hindostan also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh in pivotal roles.
“It is amazing that we could write a suitable moment in the film that sees these two icons of Indian cinema shake a leg with each other and the song will stand out because of their infectious energy and camaraderie. The song presents Mr. Bachchan and Aamir Khan in the mood to celebrate. I have to reveal that the sequence will show them getting drunk during the celebrations and then breaking out to dance on this high energy number. It is a priceless moment that we have captured in Thugs of Hindostan,” director Vijay Krishna Acharya said while talking about the film previously. Thugs of Hindostan is scheduled to hit the screens sometime next year, so stay tuned for the release date!
