1921 Movie Review

1921 Star cast: Karan Kundra, Zareen Khan
1921 Director: Vikram Bhatt
1921 mango Bollywood rating: 2.4/5 stars

Vikram Bhatt is back with yet another seemingly brilliant thriller, 1921. With Karan Kundra and Zareen Khan in the leads, this movie definitely succeeds in creating an eerie atmosphere at times and has some well-directed and executed horror sequences.

While this may be good for the movie, what backfires is the long and drawn out story with too many loose endings. 1921 revolves around the story of Ayush Asthana (Karan Kundra,) who has been blessed with exceptional music skills and is a phenomenal singer despite not having any training.

On a fateful day, Ayush is sent to the New York College of Music and all he has to do in return is baby sit his father’s boss’s mansion. If you’re wondering where the scary part of this movie begins, then wait no more. 3 months after Ayush starts staying in the mansion, paranormal things start to happen.

Enter Rose (Zareen Khan,) who falls in love with Ayush even before meeting him and just because of his voice. Rose is a medium who has been blessed with the powers of being able to communicate with the supernatural beings. All in all, this particular movie falls flat.

Directed, written and produced by Vikram Bhatt, this film aims to entertain its audience by delivering some really scary moments. Unfortunately, 1921 has all the trappings of a really, really disastrous horror movie. It’s definitely worth a watch if you are a fan of the previous movies from the 1920 series.
