Remember Kangana Ranaut in Koffee With Karan and how she made the nepotism comment on National Television?Apparently, not all Bollywood celebrities are a product of the big bad N word! Today, we take a look at 6 celebrities who worked hard and made it to the top all on their own and without a Godfather!

1) Shah Rukh Khan

King Khan, the Badshah Of Bollywood, the Baddest Khan of the lot, made his way to the top just with his acting. His early life began with odd jobs and working as an usher to earn a meager wage of Rs. 50. He reached Bombay with big dreams and without a roof over his head.

Television shows like Dil Dariya, Fauji and Circus gave him an entry into the glamorous world of acting. Shah Rukh Khan finally got his big break when he was asked to play the lead in the 1992 hit movie, Deewana. From his very first hit, there was no looking back for this particular Khan. Today, he is THE richest Bollywood star and his net worth is a hell lot more than any star kid.

2) Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is probably one of the most beautiful women in Bollywood today. She made her way to the silver screen by winning the very coveted Miss World Title in 1994. From there, Aish soared to the top. Although she began her career with movies from the South, she made her big Bollywood debut with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya in 1997.

With hit after hit since her first movie, Aish is Queen Bee in every way!

3) Akshay Kumar

Na Main Amitabh, Na Dilip Kumar, Na Kise Hero Ke Bachche, Hum Hai Seedhe Saadhe Akshay Akshay.’ This one line is a true attribute to Akshay Kumar and everything he has made of himself. Akshay made his big Bollywood debut with Saugandh (1991,) before making it to the top with Khiladi in 1992.

This particular actor had no Godfather and no family background to lean back on. It was either make or break and Akshay has definitely made it in the big leagues. Today, he is one of the three richest Bollywood actors in the industry and has made his way to the top purely with his acting and stunt skills.

4) Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan at one point was described as the “Fourth Khan.” What sets her apart from rest of the Bollywood actresses is the fact that this particular actress has not starred opposite any of the Khans. With an array of diverse roles, Vidya Balan has created a niche for herself in Bollywood. Not only did Balan steal the hearts of people all over the country, but she also won a National Award for acting!

5) Kangana Ranaut

Like Vidya, even Kangana Ranaut has made a mark in the industry all by herself. Kangana, too, has not yet worked with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Aamir Khan. She has proven that she needs no one to make her the ‘Queen’ of Bollywood. Her acting skills are enough for her to be one of the top actresses in Bollywood today.

6) Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a true hard worker who made it to the top without Daddy Dearest or a Godfather protecting him during hard times. It took him a while to make it big, but when he did, he gave an unforgettable performance. Nawazuddin broke acting barriers with Gangs Of Wasseypur and since then, there is no turning back for the actor. He struggled hard to get into the world of glitz, glam and glamour, but once he did, he made sure everyone knows he is here to stay!

These stars have defied the rules of Bollywood and with every movie they are in, the world seems like their perfect oyster!
