Padmavati Release Date May Get Postponed?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next big movie seems to keep landing in trouble over and over again. The ambitious script created quite a stir with the public. While we as the audience are waiting eagerly for Padmavati to hit the silver screens, there are numerous factions of society that have a huge problem with the movie.

The makers just released a new poster of Padmavati. While this shows Deepika Padukone as a true Rajput queen, different members of the Rajput community have raised concern over the intent of the film. A BJP MLA, Diya Kumari, who hails from a royal family of Jaipur, issued a statement saying, ”No film should hurt the sentiments of a community by twisting historical facts. The director of the film Padmavati, Sanjay Leela Bhansali should not wrongly depict the story of Queen Padmavati of Chittor. He should get the facts in (sic) the film verified by a forum of historians and then release the film.

She further added the image of Queen Padmavati would be lowered if people see her dancing as a “commoner.” Diya Kumari also requested the Censor Board to no release Padmavati till all these issues were clarified. These continuing controversies are seriously affecting the distribution of the film as distributors do not want to get involved with a film that has been involved so many controversies surrounding it.

With such a huge setback to Padmavati, it is going to be really interesting to see how Sanjay Leela Bhansali releases the movie on the scheduled date! Starring Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Padmavati is slated to hit the silver screens on 1 December, 2017!
