The plot of Phullu revolves around Phullu who makes sanitary napkins and sells them at an affordable price,to women residing in and around his village, so they won’t suffer the way his wife did. The tone of the movie seems a bit melodramatic, but it will surely be light hearted and humorous. The way he says: “If I leave the village, who will take care of ladies of my village?” This depicts the character of Phullu, a man who empathizes with a woman’s daily struggles.
Ever since the trailer is out, people started comparing this movie to Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Padman. To this Sharib put an end saying: “Padman is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham. There are other people also like him (who have worked for a similar cause.) We’ve made a fictional story around that theme. Our film is not based on Arunachalam but the theme is the same.”
Sharib Hashmi, who played the lead is a versatile actor. His previous movies include Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire and Filmistaan. He was also seen in the Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
Directed by Abhishek Saxena, Phullu is all set to release on 16th June this year.
