Bollywood Actress Sadhana No More

Veteran Bollywood actresss Sadhana Shivdasani passed away here on Friday morning in Mumbai after a long battle with cancer, a family friend said here.

She was 74 and a widow, and is survived by her foster daughter.

“Sadhana breathed her last at her home this morning,” a close friend and BJP city spokesperson Shaina N.C. told IANS.

She also denied that cancer led to the veteran actress’ demise

“Many speculative stories are floating around, but let me clarify it. Sadhanaji did not have cancer. She had high fever yesterday (Thursday), and was taken to Raheja Hospital in Mahim. And today (Friday) morning, unfortunately she expired,” she said at a press conference at Sadhana’s residence.

“Her body is in hospital and will be brought tomorrow (Saturday) morning to the residence and by 11 a.m. we will leave for the Santacruz crematorium. The only tribute Mumbaikasr can give to living legend in Sadhanaji is the message she spread which was only a dignified life and peaceful demise. May her soul rest in peace,” she added.

Sadhana’s family lawyer said she was unwell for quite some time and was admitted to Raheja Hospital.

“She was well till 7 a.m… she had her tea but later she started feeling restless and collapsed. We have notified all her relatives. They will reach Mumbai by tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Around noon we are planning the cremation,” said the lawyer.

Asha Parekh, Raza Murad, Waheeda Rahman, Ali Khan, Yash Johar, Helen, and many more noted celebrities tuned up at late actress’ residence.

“Sadhana was not just an actress but a trend setter too. Her journey has been glorious. She had a very good career and she was very popular. But unfortunately she suffered measles, which had affected her eye-sight. Due to this she stopped getting work,” said Murad.

Actress Zarina Wahab said that Sadhana’s demise is a great loss for entire industry. “We were neighbours and she was really beautiful. She was really a good person and actress. Her expiry is a loss for entire industry. Her place cannot be replaced by anyone and I am feeling sad about her passing away,” she said.

Bollywood Actress Sadhana Dead

A top-rung Bollywood star in the 1960s and 1970s, Sadhana was born in Karachi, now in Pakistan. However, after partition, when she was barely seven, her family migrated to India and settled in Bombay (now Mumbai).

She entered films as a child artiste in 1955 with a minor appearance in Raj Kapoor’s film, “Shree 420“.

Later, in 1958, she acted in India’s first Sindhi language film “Abaana” in a significant role, on a token payment of Re.1.

When a promotional picture of the movie appeared on the cover of a film magazine, it was noticed by a prominent producer, Sashadhar Mukherjee, and she joined his acting school.

Sadhana’s co-student then was her future co-star Joy Mukherjee. The duo starred in “Love in Shimla“, a musical superhit of 1960 produced by Sashadhar Mukherjee for Filmalaya Productions and directed by his son R.K. Nayyar, whom she married later.

She never looked back since and followed with highly-acclaimed and awarded film “Parakh” the following year and another musical superhit “Hum Dono” with the legendary Dev Anand.

Sadhana is credited with introducing the famous ‘fringe’ haircut – known as her trademark ‘Sadhana Cut’ – and tight body-hugging churidar-kurtas as a much-copied fashion in Bollywood.

Paired with the top heroes of that era, Sadhana continued her trailblazing career with notable films like “Ek Musafir, Ek Hasina“, “Asli Naqli“, “Mere Mehboob” – her first colour movie, “Woh Kaun Thi”, “Rajkumar”, “Waqt”, “Aarzoo”, “Mera Saaya”, “Gaban”, “Ek Phool, Do Mali” and many others till her voluntary retirement from Bollywood in 1994.

In one of her last major public appearances, Sadhana along with her relative and actor Randhir Kapoor walked the ramp at a fashion show in May 2014 to support the cause of cancer and AIDS patients.

Karan Johar is Back With A Star Studded Cast For ‘Takht’

Karan Johar is Back With A Star Studded Cast For Takht, Karan Johar upcoming Film, Takht Movie Cast, Karan Johar on Takht, Takht Movie Latest Updates, Mango Bollywood, Bollywood Latest News, Upcoming Hindi Movie News 2018, Takht Periodic Film Star Cast,

Karan Johar announced his upcoming film Takht set to release in 2020. The film features a star studded cast that includes Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. Karan used Twitter to provide an insight into the story line.

Takht is labelled as a historical film which comes after the previous film Padmaavat, that was released earlier this year and caused a stir in the country.

Takht is a historical magnum opus about the Mughal Dynasty, a battle between brothers for the Mughal throne. The lead character is played by Ranveer Singh as Dara Shikoh and Vicky Kaushal as his brother, Aurangazeb. Kareena Kapoor will be starring as their sister Jahanara Begum and Alia Bhatt would be playing the lead love interest.

This film would be the third historical film for Ranveer Singh after Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani that were both blockbuster hits.

Karan Johar is well known for having a famed cast featured in his films, his previous hit Ae Dil Hai Mushkil featured Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Fawad Khan and Aishwarya Rai.

The cast members could not contain their excitement and went on to social media to talk about the film. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt took to Twitter to announce their latest project and Janhvi Kapoor announced it on Instagram.

It was further announced that the screenplay is by Sumit Roy and dialogues by Hussain Haidry and Sumit Roy. It is unexpected for Karan to acknowledge the writers as the “heartbeat and soul of a film.” As writers require more recognition in Bollywood. Varun Grover (lyricist) and Neeraj Ghaywan (director) have been lobbying for writers getting the recognition they deserve by producers for a long time.

Bhumi Pednekar shared her excitement regarding the magnum opus “It’s a great honour for me to be working such great actors and to be directed by a veteran. I am a very big Karan Johar fan ever since I was a child. So honestly, it’s very special feeling and it’s still sinking in. I am still dealing with it and I am just so nervous about the film.”

Farah Khan congratulated Karan Johar for the film via a tweet.

Are you as excited as we are to see Kareena Kapoor and Ranveer Singh share the screen?

Radhika Apte came to the world of Bollywood like a fiery breath of fresh air at a time when actresses were put in boxes, with no definite direction. As an actress, Apte redefined the world of cinema and proved acting is a skill worked on and mastered over time. Every role this particular lady has taken up more than prove this fact. Still do not believe us? Hopefully this list of some of her best movies to date might just do the trick!

1. Parched

To begin with, Parched as a film portrayed a side of the world not many are comfortable with. It dealt with four women leads navigating through the “parched” and dry desserts of Rajasthan. Apte stole the show with her flawless acting, addressing everything from homosexuality to gender politics like a seasoned actress.

2. Antaheen

There is a certain sense of longing in the way Apte delivers her dialogues. This aspect was perhaps first noticed in the film, Antaheen. Released in the year 2009, this film spoke about love, heartache, waiting and loneliness, the film brought to light the brilliance of Apte as an actress.

3. Phobia

Phobia, a 2016 released horror film, showed us how movies can be scary without having a supernatural element. Apte’s subtle acting brought to the fore the struggles of an agoraphobic woman. With Apte playing the lead role, one can truly feel the fear of being trapped in your own home.

4. Manjhi: The Mountain Man

That this film had not one but two brilliant actors is quite an interesting fact. Both Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte more than make up for all the flaws Manjhi as a film has. The story is inspiring and unique. Gritty and powerful, the film contains likeable characters who speak with quotable dialogues, delivered to perfection by the lead actors! A true testament on Apte’s skills as an actress!

5. Lust Stories

A Netflix original film, Lust Stories is an out and out Radhika Apte film. She is portrayed as the vulnerable teacher, desperate for love and belonging. Even though the other stars in this film are brilliant, Apte steals the show with her raw acting style.

Check out these amazing dance moves below!

1. Aplam Chaplam from Azaad

This song is impressive, to say the least. A combination of technique and precision, Aplam Chaplam is the perfect combination of innovation and tradition on the silver screen. On a side note, this is song shows what fusion really looks like! Listen to the song here!

2. Dola Re Dola from Devdas

While Aplam Chaplam was from the 1955, Dola Re Dola is another example of classical dance infused with modern moves. What makes this song so special is the intricate details and attention to the movements in the song. Listen to Dola Re Dola here!

3. Mehbooba Mehbooba from Sholay

Helen, one of the most badass anti heroines of Bollywood, was way past her prime when she performed this particular number. However, age did nothing to stop her from gyrating in a belly dancer’s outfit to this RD Burman track (inspired by a song from Greek singer Demis Roussos.) This song set the tone for future dancers in Bollywood as well! Watch Helen killing it to the tunes here!

4. Radha Kaise Na Jale from Lagaan

From the Oscar nominated film Lagaan, Radha Kaise Na Jale was a true depiction of dance and emotion brought out on to the silver screen! This Gujarati style dance number had the graceful Gracy Singh performing elaborate classical movements in not one, but several long takes. On a side note, it showed us there were other actresses who could dance as well! Watch Gracy Singh groove to the folk tune here!

Okay I know there were a large number of classical songs dominating this list, which is why, this particular song just HAD to be added. Hrithik has joints which stretch and snap like rubber bands. The Mr. India actor had a rocky start in the Bollywood industry, despite his father Surinder Kapoor, being a Bollywood film producer. Anil Kapoor used to look for jobs during the day and his friends used to help him find love at night.

When he came across Sunita Kapoor, a model, he had no way of getting in contact with her. Eventually, he found her contact number and decided to talk to her.

Upon being asked about how they met Anil Kapoor said: “I met her on the telephone, and fell in love with her voice. I feel shy and awkward when I speak about her, but I love speaking about her. She is wonderful she is beautiful; she is the best thing that has happened to me.”

He added, “Then eventually after speaking to each other for a few weeks, I met her and we became friends.”

Always ..Friendship goals.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A post shared by Sunita Kapoor (@kapoor.sunita) on

The relationship deepened when Sunita and Anil started dating, Sunita would even cancel her modelling photoshoots in order to spend more time with Anil Kapoor. Sunita was an established and successful model. She constantly helped Anil with his career.

It was a rocky road to the ‘happily ever after.’ The couple had to fight for their love. After struggling for a while they managed to convince their parents. The struggle was still not over for the couple they had one more hurdle to cross- the Bollywood industry.

Everybody in the industry advised Anil Kapoor not to marry as his career was at an all-time high after his hit film Mashal (1984), and the marriage would end his career as an actor.  In his words, “In those days the industry believed that the audience liked an actor only until he was unmarried. My well-wishers thus advised me not to get married else my career would be ruined. But then I asked myself, what is more, important to me, my relationship with my girlfriend whom I know for years or my career? I was puzzled. But then it struck me that I am in a love with such a beautiful girl and we have been together since 5 years and stuck together through thick and thin, and so marriage was paramount for me that time.”

Despite the obstacles, Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor got married on 19 May, 1984.

They are proud parents of three children. Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, and Harshvardhan Kapoor. Sonam Kapoor has been “As children, we got very little family time as dad liked mom to accompany him whenever he travelled. But whenever we did, it was awesome. It feels lovely to see how much he loves her.”

Anil Kapoor was rumoured to be having an affair with his co-star, Madhuri Dixit after their chemistry on screen. Anil laughed out these rumours claiming they were a publicity stunt. “I got a lot of opportunities to fall in love and out of it, as I worked with many beautiful stars, but I thought to myself whether I wanted 2 minutes of joy or a lifetime of happiness. I am extremely happy with Sunita.”

Fairy tales are real after all.
